Drop It Like It’s Hot rapper Snoop Dogg was slammed by fans after he made controversial comments about the LGBTQIA+ representation in a recent movie he watched with his grandson
Snoop Dogg was hit with criticism after he made controversial comments about LGBTQIA+ representation in movies. The 53-year-old Vato rapper angered fans when he said he felt uneasy about taking his grandson to the cinema after being shocked at seeing same-sex representation in Disney’s movie, Lightyear.
He appeared on the It’s Giving podcast and accused movies of putting same-sex representation ‘everywhere’. He said: “What you see is what you see, and they’re putting it everywhere.” Snoop said his grandson was confused upon seeing the character Alisha Hawthorne with her wife and child.
“They’re like, ‘She had a baby – with another woman’,” Snoop said. “Well, my grandson, in the middle of the movie is like, ‘Papa Snoop? How she have a baby with a woman? She’s a woman!'”

The Drop It Like It’s Hot star, who sparked outrage after performing at one of Donald Trump’s inaugural events, say he didn’t know how to answer his grandson.
He said: “I’m like, ‘Oh sh**, I didn’t come in for this sh**. I just came to watch the goddamn movie.” However, his grandson then asked him: “They just said, she and she had a baby — they’re both women. How does she have a baby?”
Snoop said the moment ‘threw him for a loop’, adding it “f**ked me up. I’m like, scared to go to the movies. Y’all throwing me in the middle of sh** that I don’t have an answer for. It threw me for a loop. I’m like, ‘What part of the movie was this?'”
He said that children are naturally curious but questioned whether LGBTQIA representation should be shown to a young target audience.
“These are kids. We have to show that at this age? They’re going to ask questions. I don’t have the answer,” he said.
Fans slammed the rapper and took to social media to share their concerns. One user said: “Snoop being the biggest disappointment ever was not on my bingo card.”
Another posted: “God forbid kids see representation and the parents have to talk to their kids about it. Some parents need to grow up,” while one wrote: “He showed his true colours at the inauguration, now he is showing his hatefulness.”
“It’s because people of his generation refuse to educate themselves so they don’t know how to educate the generation the claim to be ‘raising’,” one annoyed user posted.
One fan said: “Wow. I am so embarrassed that I ever liked him. Why can’t we be represented in anything without straight people freaking out? It’s not an agenda. Sometimes we just wanna see ourselves in media and entertainment. Is that so wrong?”
