Irish TV presenter Vogue Williams married Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews in 2018, but he’s made a savage age-related dig just months before the mum-of-three turns 40
Made in Chelsea star Spencer Matthews made a harsh dig towards his wife Vogue Williams as she prepares to celebrate her 40th birthday with friends and family. Influencer and Irish TV presenter Vogue will celebrate her birthday in October, with her nearest and dearest already planning a series of events to mark her milestone.
Vogue, 39, married Spencer, 36, in June 2018, just a few months after they announced their engagement. They now share three children: Theodore, six, Gigi, four, and Otto, two.
The couple, who are known for their playful back and forth, have been forced to dismiss rumours in recent months after speculation their marriage was on the rocks. But they’ve not let it stop their banter, with Spencer bravely making a cheeky dig at his wife’s age.
The ex-reality star was discussing his plans for Vogue’s big day, and what he has planned for his wife of seven years. He quipped: “Plenty going on for that, it’s obviously a big one, it is a big birthday… I myself look forward to my 40th in four years’ time.”
Moving on from his joke, he explained to Goss.ie: “No I think it is going to be great. We are going to do lots of different things.
“We have a few friendship groups. We have an Irish group, we have an English group. So we will probably have a party in Ireland, and we will do something at home as well.
“I might take her away and do something special as well. We will plan stuff in more detail, it is at the tail end of the year so thankfully we do have time to organise that. But Vogue is ahead of the curb on that one and we know a bunch of stuff that we are doing.”
Spencer pulled it back after his savage dig, but it’s not the first time he’s made a joke at his wife’s expense. During an appearance on comedian Joanne McNally’s podcast, I Ghosted My Therapist, Vogue recalled a time her friend got her back up over one of Spencer’s comments.
Vogue remembered: “He [Spencer] said something about me having small t*ts and you went for him. You said, ‘I’m only allowed to say that’, he couldn’t understand why he wasn’t allowed to say it.”
Joanne, 41, confirmed: “Yeah, it was the tone or something, I just didn’t like the tone of it.” Vogue laughed: “That sounds like you might have been serious, ‘I know you look at those nipples all day long, but doesn’t mean you can slag them [off]’.”
The comedian explained: “It’s all about the tone, there was no wink at the end, no, no, no, I intervened. I can say you’ve got s**t t*ts but if your husband says it, it’s totally different.”
But Vogue certainly gives as good as she gets, with the Dublin native having her fair share of jabs at Spencer. Recently, she said she initially thought the business owner was a “sociopath” when she first met him.
In a recent interview with the Sun, Vogue revealed that she already didn’t like Spencer before she met him. The mother-of-three confessed: “I kind of met him with a preconceived idea, and I was like, ‘I’m not going to like him’ because I thought he was a sociopath.”
Vogue soon changed her mind, adding: “But after I met him, I loved his personality straight away . . . he was so sound, but I was being really good at being single and I wanted to stay single, so I thought, ‘He’s going to be a really good friend’ — that’s the first thing I thought.”
