Sprayable dessert trend is on the rise as scent snacking replaces actual snacking

By staff19 October 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

There has been a huge rise in people opting for vanilla and caramel scented perfumes recently and it’s a real scent trend for this year – but there are fears there is a deeper meaning to the popularity of them

We all know smelling good can help boost confidence and draw attention – but there may be a deeper reason as to why people are suddenly wanting to smell like a dessert with their pefume choices.

The rise in food-scented sprays, also known as gourmand perfume, has seen a 77% surge in just a year and it’s known as “scent snacking”. However it can be worrying as people are no longer eating the cake, but infact smelling like one instead to curb the calories.

We find comfort in food, and we use desserts such as cakes and sweet treats for every emotion, however with so many diet-led trends, scent snacking may be feeding into a toxic diet culture.

People claim perfume has gotten sweeter since weight-loss jabs took over and TikToker Amy Nose Scent noted: “Whenever society doubles down on being thin, dessert-centred perfumes spike. Why? Because they offer the illusion of indulgence without breaking any of the rules.”

Edible-smelling scents are sold as a “guilt free pleasure,” Amy added, as the term ‘scent snacking’ rises on social media. People are hailing the use of gourmand perfumes to curb their indulgent sweet treats, as one user penned: “Well, I tend to grab gourmands when I’m on a diet and it helps!”

Sweet smelling perfumes are currently trending – and known as “gourmand fragrances”, people are opting for sweet yet seductive scents that will definitely make heads turn.

But while many people still happily tuck into a dessert while also smelling like one, we’ve found a roundup of some of the sweetest scents out there to make you smell as good as your baking.

Sabrina Carpenter Me Espresso Eau de Parfum Spray (£22) has scents of indulgent cocoa powder and the bold, addictive aroma of Espresso Bean. It also has notes of vanilla and jasmine alongside notes of biscotti, caramel, amber and whipped cream.

For those really looking for something on the sweeter side, Kayali Vanilla Candy Rock Sugar (£73) will do the trick. Vanilla Candy is one of the most desired notes in fragrance, with notes of glazed candied pear and bubble gum playfully enhance the fruity, candy-like sweetness with a tempting vanillic explosion at the heart, magnified by warm and woody notes of tonka bean, sandalwood, and patchouli.

Alternatively Tom Ford offer the Vanille Fatale Eau de Parfum (£290). A dark, spicy twist on vanilla – rich with coffee, woods, and a smoky warmth that feels super luxurious and a nice scent for the fall. An unapologetic exploration of vanilla. Vanille Fatale evokes the ingredient’s alter-ego – a beguiling, richly cinematic and deeply seductive scent.
