Stacey Solomon and Mrs Hinch’s DIY item makes front of your house look ‘pretty’

By staff2 April 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

The TV star and ‘de-clutter’ expert has shared a “low cost” way people can decorate their front doors

Homeware and gardening fans keen to spruce up their homes for spring and summer may enjoy replicating Stacey Solomon and Mrs Hinch’s DIY decoration. In a previous episode of BBC’s Sort Your Life Out, starring the mum-of-five, she informed viewers how to make a “low cost” floral wreath to hang on the front of their house.

Stacey is popular among many for her handy cleaning hacks, de-cluttering techniques and home decor tips. She is well known for her ‘cute’ Pickle Cottage, which she shares with her husband and former EastEnders star Joe Swash.

Her social media accounts are usually brimming with photos of her home, which is always neatly decorated and filled with seasonal goodies to inspire fellow interior fanatics. One trend that is increasingly growing in popularity across the UK is flower wreaths, with plenty of homeowners hanging one on their front door – much like Stacey.

At Asda, the BBC TV star has her own collection of wreaths people can buy, including this Natural Dried Floral Wreath for £16.80 and this Green Foliage Wreath for £15.40. But for anyone keen to avoid plastic and keep spending to a minimum, you can make your own wreath with natural products.

Stacey Solomon, along with help from her friend and fellow cleaning influencer, Mrs Hinch, has revealed a way people can create their own using pampas grass and dried flowers. In one episode of BBC’s Sort Your Life out—which is currently in its fifth season—the 35-year-old mum explained how to put together a wreath at a “low cost.”

First, she collects pampas grass from outside, advising people to check before they take it, and then dries it out with a hairdryer – this step helps the grass become fluffier. You can always buy some pampas grass from garden centres or retailers like Amazon and The Range.

She then gets a wooden ring, pliers and some wire – also easily found at places like Hobbycraft and Amazon. She wraps the grass around the wooden ring with the wire and then cuts off the stalks.

She adds small bunches of dried flowers into the wire “to add colour”. Lastly, she sprays the wreath with hairspray to “keep the grass in one piece”.

The clip has been shared by the BBC on Facebook. The caption reads: “Make your own pampas grass wreath, just like Stacey and Mrs Hinch.” In the comment section, Julia replied: “So creative.”

Carla said: “Love that, may make one for my door.” Geraldine wrote: “Beautiful. Rey cautioned: “Hairspray makes this very very combustible. Be careful.” Carly added: “That’s cute but i bet it would malt everywhere!”
