Soap star Stephanie Davis has shared her shock, devastation and heartbreak over the fact her relationship with Joe McKalroy has ended just months after they welcomed a child
Stephanie Davis has confirmed her split from boyfriend Joe McKalroy after a week of speculation about their romance. The 32-year-old soap star shares a five-month-old son named Samuel with partner Joe – who she had been dating since 2022.
But rumours emerged last weekend that their romance was over after Stephanie shared a message about Father’s Day that noticeably made no mention of the father of her son. Further comments from the Hollyoaks star fuelled further speculation that the relationship was over.
On Sunday, Stephanie took to social media to confirm that her relationship with Joe was indeed over and that she was facing racing her child as a solo parent. She did not elaborate as to what caused the collapse of the once strong romance.
In an Instagram Stories post, she wrote: “Never in a million years did I think I’d be writing this. I’ve been left with no choice but to address the rumours.”
She continued: “This has come as a complete shock and has been an incredibly painful and unexpected time. Just four months after having a baby – one of the most vulnerable and emotional times in a woman’s life – I’ve found myself facing this chapter on my own.”
Hinting at her past troubled romance with reality star Jeremy McConnell, with whom she shared a seven-year-old son, she went on: “After everything I’ve been through in the past, I truly believed I’d finally found my happiness – something secure and lasting. But that, heartbreakingly, hasn’t been the case.”
Stephanie went on to write: “I’m greatful for the years we had because without us I wouldn’t have my Samuel. Who will always be my priority.”
And she concluded: “Right now, I’m focusing on healing, protecting my peace, and doing the best I can – being there for my two beautiful boys. Thank you to those who’ve reached out – your kindness has meant more than I can say. Stephanie X.”
Her update came just hours after she shared an earlier social media post marking the five month mark of her son, Samuel, which made no reference to Joe.
She wrote, to the surprise of fans: “This Day 5 months ago you came into this world. Only 5 months old today ( I know he’s still a tiny baby). It’s crazy to think he’s not been out in this world as long as he was in my tummy.”
The message went on: “From nearly losing you in the beginning, the worst pregnancy, C.Diff, I couldn’t walk with pelivic girdle trapped in the house for months & months, a terrible birth, then lifting doing every night feed lifting after a C-section , then your breathing eppsiodes which was the scariest time of my life, it’s been a long hard traumatic road.
“But here you are thriving my miricale my rainbow… my world… Everything I do is for you and your brother and I will always be here every single day for you, cheering you on.”
She added: “I’m so lucky getting to watch you grow every single day by your side into the most beautiful little boy. It So sad I don’t have many photos of me and you bar selfies I’ve taken, but from now on I’ll make sure we have many thogether. You will always be my priority. I love you baby.”
