Stop crying your heart out – why I’m now convinced Oasis will be back on tour in 2026

Oasis have played 19 dates in the UK and Ireland and giving millions of fans one of best Summers ever

Mark Jefferies is the Showbiz Editor at the Daily Mirror, writing about television and interviewing celebrities for the paper for over 15 years. Mark covers the latest showbiz news and enjoys watching and writing about new documentaries, police dramas and reality TV shows. He has also been to Australia a number of times to cover ITV series I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! for the Mirror, Daily Express and Daily Star.

The Summer of 2025 has belonged to Oasis in the UK and Ireland – it is hard to overstate the impact and outpouring of emotion from their 19 shows.

We’ve just had the final weekend of gigs in London at Wembley Stadium coming after Noel and Liam Gallagher went and conquered America too. And David Beckham has just called Oasis the “The Greatest” on instagram after going to Sunday night’s show. He’s not wrong.

I was at Sunday’s show too and it was a magical evening, another fantastic show with Liam’s vocals holding up brilliantly thanks to his decision not to party on this tour and instead get his highs from the crowd reaction.

Elsewhere on the stage positive vibes pour out of the guitarists Bonehead, Andy Bell and Gem Archer and new drummer Joey Waronker has found his feet.

Noel has spoken of his nerves when the comeback tour began in Cardiff on July 4, and he is definitely a more relaxed and jokey figure on stage now a few months in.

Being relaxed is no bad thing and there is certainly no one taking anything for granted or phoning it in, the band sound tight, loud and on top form song after song.

Now, little by little the rumours have been growing about tour dates in 2026. Everyone is convinced that gigs will be confirmed at Manchester City’s Etihad stadium and Knebworth, where the band played in August 1996.

What sources around the band have consistently said to me is Liam (and Noel to lesser degree) will need a rest after this tour. Others have said to me they are due to take 18 months off once they finish this tour with dates in Australia, Japan and South Korea and South America over October and November.

I’ve no doubt a long break was the original plan when this tour started.

But it would be very hard to say ‘no’ to more shows next Summer now, with the unprecedented reaction and five star reviews the band has got. Noel didn’t answer a question about Knebworth when he called into TalkSport and was quizzed, instead choosing to change the subject.

Twice over the weekend at Wembley Liam told fans “See you next year”. Liam knew what he was doing.

Noel and Liam are still enjoying it up there too, perhaps more than even they thought they would. Why wouldn’t they carry on playing together?

So my money would be on the lads having a nice break of up to six months after this tour and then playing some more. There is no need to rush an announcement and they could even wait to see how the final months of this tour goes.

But whatever they do, wherever they book and want to play, it will sell out.

I don’t think I’ll ever see live shows as good as these Oasis gigs again. But I will be very happy for them to prove me wrong in 2026. It’s been a Supersonic Summer and I hope thousands more get the chance to have a similar experience next year.
