Cleaning experts have shared a simple and affordable way to make your bathroom taps shine – and all you need is a 69p household item
There’s nothing quite like sinking into a warm bath after a long day, particularly as the weather turns nippier. However, we often neglect mundane tasks such as scrubbing the bathtub and taps.
Maintaining a clean tub and taps is not only more sanitary but also saves us time and effort by preventing the accumulation of grime and dirt. Ideally, if you’re a regular bath user, you should be giving your bathroom taps a good clean at least once a week.
If you use them less frequently, a thorough clean once a month should suffice.
Luckily, experts from cleaning brand Method have shared some handy tips on how to keep our bathroom taps sparkling and free from limescale, reports the Express.
Make taps shine
Did you know that washing-up liquid can double up as a cleaner for your bathtub taps?
For chrome taps, combine a small amount of washing-up liquid, such as Method’s coconut water variant, with warm water and apply the mixture to the tap using a soft cloth or sponge.
Ensure you rub the solution in smooth circles to lift off any dirt.
Rinse promptly and dry the surface immediately with a soft cloth to avoid water spots.
For stainless steel taps, a soft cloth dabbed with a drop of washing-up liquid can effectively banish fingerprints.
You can pick up washing-up liquid from Tesco or Asda for a mere 69p.
Wait before you wipe
Cleaning can be a bit of a drag, and we’re all keen to get it over with quickly.
However, this is where many folks slip up – they don’t give the products enough time to do their job.
So, when sprucing up your bathroom taps, allow the cleaning solution to sit for a good 15-20 minutes before giving it a scrub.
This allows it ample time to fully combat stubborn stains and soap scum, guaranteeing a sparkling finish.
