Strictly’s Dianne Buswell slams vile troll complaining about her being pregnant on show

By staff25 September 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Strictly pro Dianne, 36, will make history this year as the first dancer to perform in the BBC show while pregnant after announcing her incredible baby news with boyfriend Joe Sugg

Dianne Buswell has slammed a nasty troll complaining about seeing her pregnant on Strictly Come Dancing and outrageously branding it “inappropriate”.

The pro, 36, will make history this year as the first dancer to perform in the BBC show while pregnant after announcing her incredible baby news with boyfriend Joe Sugg.

Yet, for some reason, a vile troll has decided to lash out the pro, saying that she is making them feel “uncomfortable”.

They wrote: “I don’t want to see her dance being pregnant, it’s already feeling uncomfortable and she’s only starting to show. It’s really not appropriate.”

Sharing the comment on her Instagram Stories, Dianne – who is paired with Neighbours legend Stefan Davis this year – wrote: “I can’t believe in 2025 things like this are still being said.”

The comment also sparked fury from other fans, with one writing: “Saw @diannebuswell’s story and just had to say something. Her dancing pregnant in Strictly this year is nothing short of beautiful and magical. Women’s bodies are INCREDIBLE and I don’t actually think people realise that.

“This will show all of those people who believe this weird twisted notion that women should hide away when they’re carrying a baby that women are capable of much more & can do anything. You’re inspirational and incredible. We as a family cannot wait to watch you doing what you love and were born to do again every weekend. And we will be cheering you on as always beautiful.”

Dianne reposted the comment with a series of happy crying and heart emojis.

The pro and partner Joe, who met in 2018 while Joe was competing on the BBC show, took to Instagram earlier this month to share their baby news with an adorable stick-figure illustration depicting them with a little one, captioning it: “Our little baby boy. We cannot wait to meet you.”

On her podcast with comedian Chris McCausland, her victorious 2024 Strictly partner, Dianne also let slip some thoughts on baby names.

Before learning they were having a boy, Dianne and Joe considered an unusual name for a girl but ultimately had reservations,.

Dianne confessed: “If it was a girl it was always going to be Americus, but it was never going to be Americus because Joe would never have that.”

She joked about bypassing Joe’s approval, saying, “However, I had planned to get him out the room when I do the certificate or whatever you do and just put it on there. However, now that you just said Americano, that’s kind of cool too.

“I’m planning to call it Christopher Anton Craig Buswell-Sugg. It might be Christopher Craig Anton Buswell-Sugg, that is TBC at the moment. Do you know how many people have messaged me saying ‘You better call that baby Chris!’. I’m not even joking.”

In a discussion with Chris about how being pregnant influences her dancing, she shared: “I’m still doing everything that I did before. Obviously with lifts there’s just going to be a bit more caution, but my doctor has said that everything is normal.

“He said, ‘Basically if you’ve done it before…then crack on and keep doing what you were doing…you shouldn’t stop what you do.'”.

Prior to her pregnancy announcement, Dianne spoke about postponing family plans due to her demanding dance career.

“I would like to have children, 100 per cent. Joe and I love kids and that’s definitely something that we would absolutely love,” she said.

“My job is quite demanding and I love it so much. It is a tough one to balance out and think about. It would take a lot of thought but eventually one day we’ll get there…It will happen when it’s supposed to.”
