Stubborn BBQ grease melts away with £3.50 staple you’ll already have in your kitchen

While we all love a BBQ when the sun comes out, most of us find cleaning the appliance a bit of a slog – but doesn’t have to be the case thanks to a spray that gives “sparkling” results

When the weather gets warmer, there is nothing us Brits love more than firing up the BBQ and having friends over for a hot dog or burger in the garden. With temperatures rising and summer fast-approaching, many of us will be looking to get our BBQs out of the shed and ready for the first hot weekend.

But first-things-first, you’ll want to get it sparkling clean before having guests over – and this no longer has to be a difficult feat requiring elbow grease and sweat, thanks to a product you may already have in your kitchen.

A £3.50 spray that smells of an apple orchard and is known for leaving kitchens sparkling has been praised as being a grime-busting boss when it comes to leaving your BBQ streak-free.

Cleaning brand Method said: “Your BBQ’s exterior works just as hard as the inside – facing smoke, splatters, and the elements every time you fire it up.” It explained that giving the appliance a regular wipe-down is vital to keep it “looking sharp” and prevent long-term wear from grease and grime.

It explained that its stainless steel surface cleaner in the scent ‘apple orchard’ can “easily remove any grease, fingerprints, and weather marks from the exterior of your BBQ”. Method added: “Once finished, it’ll look polished and party-ready, whether you’re grilling for a crowd or just keeping things casual.”

The spray can be used on furniture, countertops, and appliances to “restore shine and protect surfaces” and is suitable for wood, metal, glass and laminate surfaces. The solution is non-toxic but manages to deliver “a mighty cleaning punch with naturally derived, biodegradable ingredients”.

One customer claimed that the spray was the “first product that actually works” for cleaning BBQs. They said that they used it on their BBQ and it took away all of the fingerprints, writing: “Smells great also. Really impressed, especially for the price!”

Meanwhile, an Amazon reviewer wrote that the spray was easy to use and quickly made their sink shine. They said: “The results were effective for a reasonably long time, leaving the sink smear resistant giving it a quick drying time. And no messing about, just a speedy spray and wipe and you’re done. Sparkling!!”

Another commented: “I have my own cleaning service and this product always surprises me. I spray the appliance, spread the solution everywhere and then turn the cleaning towel and buff in a circular motion. This is the real deal for stainless steel.”

One person who purchased the spray said the product left a “very nice, clean, non-greasy and fingerprint-free finish”, while another said: “Considering you do not need a lot per cleaning application I highly recommend this cleaner.”
