Weather warnings have been issued across northern England and Scotland this week, with Storm Floris expected to bring heavy rains and strong winds over the next couple of days. With bad weather on the horizon, many homeowners may need to repair their fences, especially as they’re often the first to fall victim to strong gusts.

For those worried about their fences taking a beating, these post-repair fence supports from Amazon are currently 17% off, reduced from £35.99 to £29.99. While they won’t arrive before the storm hits, they’re handy to have for quick repairs or reinforcement once the weather clears.

Made from durable steel, the supports are designed to keep fence posts straight and secure. They install easily into the ground using a mallet or hammer, and feature pre-drilled holes so you can screw the posts in tightly with a drill.

They’re powder-coated to prevent rust and built to resist breaking or warping over time, making them ideal for long-term protection. They’d also work for wobbly railings, too.

These ground stakes provide support to leaning or decaying posts and fences.

Elsewhere, Wickes also stocks a similar product, the Steel Fence Repair Spur (£21 each). One happy shopper said: “Great product, easy to use and works well.”

B&Q is another retailer to consider, offering a decent-sized range of post-damage solutions. This two pack of supports is priced at £45.95.

Over at Amazon, the fence posts don’t have many reviews, but they have a decent 4.6-star average rating. One person said: “I bought these to repair two fence posts that were starting to rot at ground level. Good sturdy product and installed each in about 5 minutes using a 5lb hammer and a block of wood to protect the repair stake from the hammer blows.”

However, they noted: “You may struggle if you don’t have a heavy hammer. The repair stakes are not cheap, but a lot less expensive and much easier than replacing fence posts.”

Meanwhile, someone else said: “Does exactly what it should do.” And someone else piped up: “Great for a small job.”

However, this mixed review reads: “Put one in for extra holding power. Unfortunately, some of my posts are in larger areas, so I can’t put the spike close enough to the post. But worked well and seems very sturdy for the one I could do.”

Another reviewer gave it a five-star review, but noted: “Easy to use, but just make sure it goes in the ground straight.”
