Barbara Nomakhosi, 35, was found dead at a property in Bury, Greater Manchester, while a man wanted in connection with her death died on the M65 the same day after being hit by a lorry
A suspect wanted in connection with a woman’s death drove his car to another county on the day she was found before he was hit by a lorry, it has emerged.
Barbara Nomakhosi, aged 35, was found dead with ‘multiple injuries’ at a property in Bury, Greater Manchester on August 6. Police had been called to the address at around 10.30pm, but believe she had died earlier that day.
It was later revealed that the suspect, a man in his 40s, died the same evening at around 9pm on the M65 in Lancashire. He was hit by a HGV and ‘multiple other vehicles’ near Blackburn.
The suspect had driven to Lancashire in his own vehicle before he was killed on the motorway, according to the Manchester Evening News. Lancashire Police said he was a pedestrian on the eastbound carriageway when he was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said they are not seeking any other suspects in connection with Barbara’s death and that there is no wider risk to the public. Barbara’s family described her as “caring” and “hard-working” in an emotional tribute released after her death. In a statement, they said: “Barbara was a caring and hard-working person. She was so thoughtful and always checking up on her family and friends. Barbara loved her family and enjoyed working as a carer. We loved Barbara so much and life will not be the same without her.”
Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “I know just how much Barbara’s family will miss her and I hope that the memories of her can provide comfort as they begin to come to terms with this heart-breaking loss. This is a complex investigation which is very much ongoing and we remain in contact with colleagues in Lancashire as they progress their own investigation into the circumstances of the fatal collision.”
