‘Sweet’ Staffy visited once at kennel during 15-month stay desperate to find loving home

A three-year-old Staffy who was starved and neglected by her previous owners was rehomed at a kennel in Suffolk last year but has once been visited once since then

A dog who was deprived of food and water by its previous owners has only been visited once since being put into a rehoming kennel more than a year ago. Sasha, a three-year-old Staffordshire Bull, was rescued by RSPCA inspectors in June 2024 after being found “trapped in a home with no escape”, BBC News reported.

She was denied access to the garden to go to the toilet but would be punished and not given food or water for going inside when she was desperate, the RSPCA said. The poor dog has spent the last year at the charity’s Suffolk Central branch in Martlesham, which is eager to help her find her forever home, especially before her birthday next month, it announced on Facebook.

RSPCA Suffolk Central posted a photo of Sasha on the social media platform and shared: “We are desperate to find this sweet, loving girl a home before her 4th birthday next month!

“We would hate to see her celebrate the last two birthdays in rescue, without a home to call her own.”

The RSPCA told BBC News that she has only had one family come and visit her in the kennel but this sadly fell through.

According to the RSPCA, Sasha is completely toilet trained, loves going on walks, “flourishes” in a home environment and enjoys snuggling close on the sofa at bedtime.

On its website, RSPCA’s Suffolk Central Branch states that Sasha is “super clean” and walks well on a lead but she has to be muzzled due to her reactivity to other dogs.

However, the charity adds: “Sasha has shown us she has the ability to have controlled social walks with suitably matched dogs, but adopters must be patient and sensible with these interactions and understand that she doesn’t want to be friends with all dogs.”

It also mentions that the “sweet” pooch would like having a decent sized garden of her own for her own off-lead time and it described her as “incredibly intelligent and enjoys her training so everyone involved will have fun too.”

The RSPCA revealed to BBC News that before being taken away from her previous owners, she would give them a look showing “so much love and desperation” but sadly, it was never returned.

The charity continued: “She was given no access to the outside but had to watch everyone else in the house, including another dog, have the freedom of doing so whilst she was left behind for hours on end.”

The RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch website says: “Our inspector was heartbroken to see how skinny she was but still had so much love and trust to offer.”

It urges Staffy lovers who are “ready to accept numerous toys being placed on your lap” to get in touch.

Facebook users were moved after hearing Sasha’s story as one said: “Just read Sasha’s info, both shocking and heartbreaking. I hope this beautiful girl gets the loving home she truly deserves.”

Others commented on her appearance with remarks, including “she’s so beautiful,” “she is so lovely” and “gorgeous.”
