Pop star Taylor Swift’s oceanfront home in Rhode Island is set to be extended, according to a building permit that was issued to contractors working on the property
Taylor Swift is set to expand her £13.8m Rhode Island mansion after becoming a billionaire. The pop star, who bought the 11,000 square-foot oceanfront home in New England in 2013, has reportedly hired contractors to build an extension, according to a building permit.
This comes after the singer reached billionaire status in October 2023 with a wealth of $1.1 billion. The document reveals that the upgrade will include an additional bedroom and more bathrooms, as well as a kitchen upgrade.
The new bedroom will measure 16 by 24 feet, although the number of bathrooms was not specified. The estimated cost for the project, including labour and materials, is £1.4million, as per the permit issued last month.
The singer’s property boasts a 700ft private beachfront and is located near the luxurious Ocean House resort. It features eight bedrooms, 10 bathrooms and 5.23 acres of land with manicured gardens and a large swimming pool.
The estate was previously owned by oil heiress Rebekah Harkness and Swift, like its former owner, hosts grand parties there, including annual Fourth of July celebrations known as Taymerica. Several celebrities have given glimpses into the home through social media posts from these events, reports the Express US.
In 2015, A-list guests such as Gigi Hadid, Joe Jonas, and Martha Hunt shared moments from the holiday weekend on Instagram. Hadid shared snaps of a DIY volleyball court in Swift’s garden and a group photo on a spiral staircase, all dressed in matching red, white, and blue onesies. Hunt also posted pictures of the property’s tiled patio and pool area, decked out with inflatable toys and a slide.
He even shared a picture of himself and Nick Jonas enjoying Swift’s bar. Hadid and Blake Lively, along with their partners Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds, were spotted at a summer party at the property.
Last August, Swift’s beau, Travis Kelce, and his Kansas City Chiefs teammate Patrick Mahomes were seen enjoying one of Swift’s pool parties at her residence.
