Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, and Boots are urgently recalling two Myprotein Gooey Filled Cookie products due to health risk concerns after it was found they could cause abdominal discomfort, headaches, and brain fog.

The companies have warned customers about possible health risks linked to the Myprotein Gooey Filled Cookie Double Chocolate and Caramel that may contain an undeclared wheat protein harmful to those with allergies or intolerances and coeliac disease sufferers.

Issuing guidance, the Food Standards Agency stated:

“If you have bought the above product and have coeliac disease, and/or an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, do not eat it.

“Instead return it to the store from where it was purchased for a full refund.”

The affected products include both the 75g single cookie and the box of 12 x 75g of Myprotein Gooey Filled Cookie – Double Chocolate and Caramel.

These bear best before dates of June 17, 2025, and July 16, 2026, with all batch codes involved in the recall—identifiable by barcode 505610458721, reports Bristol Live.

According to a report by the Express, the issue arose from an ingredient containing undisclosed wheat protein used in manufacturing the cookies, leading to potential health threats for individuals with certain dietary restrictions.

This labelling mistake raises serious health concerns especially for the estimated half a million UK residents living with coeliac disease, an autoimmune condition that is exacerbated by gluten consumption.

In rare cases, allergies to wheat or gluten can trigger a potentially deadly reaction, with symptoms usually beginning within minutes of eating the food.

THG Nutrition Limited, the maker of the product, has contacted relevant allergy support groups to inform their members.
