Tesco’s £36 version of H&M’s viral sequin party dress is about to fly off shelves

Move over H&M, F&F has the viral dress of Christmas 2025…

A few Christmases ago, social feeds were flooded with one very sparkly culprit: H&M’s £54 white sequin tie-back mini dress. From December dinner parties to New Year’s Eve dancefloors, the glitzy number became the party dress of 2023, selling out almost instantly and fetching double its retail price on resale sites.

Fans called it “the dress of the season”, and now, it looks like Tesco has slipped into its sparkly shoes. Its own brand F&F has just dropped a white sequin mini that bears a striking resemblance to H&M’s viral hit, and shoppers are already predicting a sell-out.

Priced at a very affordable £36, it’s a glittering bargain compared to 2023’s high street sensation, yet it channels the same festive energy that made the H&M version a hit. Though it doesn’t feature long sleeves, both dresses feature warm white sequins and statement black bow detailing around the neckline and shoulders. They’re also both cut to a mini (but wearable mini, not a bum-flashing mini) length.

The F&F dress in particular features an all-over sequin finish that catches the light beautifully. The round neck and straight cut make it wearable for all shapes, while the slightly structured fabric means it skims rather than clings- a huge win when you’re balancing cocktails, canapés and central heating. It’s fully lined, too, so no scratchy sequins or awkward transparency issues. Plus, it comes in sizes 6-22– and all are currently in stock.

While H&M’s cult version had an open back and tie detail, Tesco’s take is a little more versatile for real-life party dressing. The closed-back design means you can wear regular bras (a blessing if you’re fuller in the chest) and add statement earrings or metallic heels for a glam look. Team it with sheer black tights and knee-high boots for a glam-meets-practical winter outfit, or throw an oversized blazer on top if you’re heading straight from the office to prosecco hour.

Though H&M’s £54 original isn’t in stock anymore (sob), there are plenty of other sequinned sleeve versions of this style of dress. Oasis’ Sequin Flare Sleeve Mini Dress, on sale for £47.20, is the perfect shift dress to take you into party season with a bang.
