The Salix Integra Flamingo Plant, which is available in both a tree and a mini shrub, was a huge hit with shoppers last year and has now returned
The Range has delighted customers and gardeners by announcing the return of a ‘lush’ tree that was a hit last year. As summer approaches, the homeware shop has topped up its stock of its popular Salix Integra Flamingo Plants. Famous for their distinctive pink and white tips, which is what gives them their ‘flamingo’ namesake.
News of their return caused quite the stir on social media, as The Range’s Facebook announcement garnered thousands of likes instantly. The store excitedly declared: “It’s FLAMINGO TIME! That’s right – last year’s SELL-OUT 60cm Salix Flamingo Trees are BACK in stock and at the UNBEATABLE price of £14.99 each or 2 for £20!!”
The Range revealed it will be selling ‘charming’ mini version this year, available at just £3.99 each or three for £10, urging shoppers to head to their stores quickly before they all ‘fly away’, reports Plymouth Live. The plants can be found in “Garden Centres By Homebase within local The Range outlets, with store locations listed on https://www.therange.co.uk/stores/.”
Eager fans filled the comment section with excitement. Sam enthused: “Omg they’re back.” Ashleigh revealed her plans saying: “I need one of these.”
Lauren thought it sounded like a great bargain as she tagged a friend and commented: “This looks like a good deal.” Meanwhile, Rachel couldn’t hide her eagerness, saying: “We need to go to the range! I need these!”
Fabienne shared a snap of her eye-catching pink flamingoes from The Range in her garden, mentioning she’s got a collection: “Here are my flamingos from The Range. I have several from other places too.”
This prompted someone to comment: “What a gorgeous garden.” Then, Macy posted about her own pink-plumed tree: “This is one of ours, a year old.”
Nicholas also took to social media with his garden’s progress: “My five have bloomed well this year. Almost 10ft tall now.” Amy, intrigued by the growth, queried: “How long did it take for yours to be like this? And what kind of care did you give them please? I really want mine to get like this!” Nicholas revealed his gardening strategy: “I prune them back every November to over half as small.”
Christina shared her experience, noting: “I bought a small tree last year and I have it in a pot and it’s got nice and big!! Have had to trim it back so it encourages more growth and isn’t too too heavy. So easy to look after. Wanting more now!” And Sarah Jane enthused over an image of the tree adorning her front garden: “I love mine.”
The Range touts these “beautiful” pink bloomers as perfect enhancers of outdoor natural charm, recommending they be planted in “well-draining soil”. The product description on The Range’s website says: “Envelope your garden with the beauty and grace of the Salix Integra Flamingo Plant.”
“This plant produces lovely pink flowers that contrast the lush green foliage, bringing natural flair to your space. Simply plant it in well-draining loamy or sandy soil and let it bask under the full sun to see it thrive outdoors.”
Best way to tend to a Salix flamingo plant:
Experts at the Gardening Express Knowledge Hub suggest that to thrive, these plants “should be grown in full sun or partial shade in soil that is moist but well-drained”. Provided they receive ample hydration, standard trees flourish when potted. For those who want to shape their tree, light pruning in both summer and winter is recommended.
Specialists from Gardensworld agree, advising: “Grow your flamingo tree in moist but well-drained soil in full sun – it looks good in contemporary or urban gardens and in Japanese-style planting schemes. You can also grow standards in pots on the patio, or flanking a doorway.”
