‘These £39 Prime Day straighteners made my hair sleek in five minutes’

A good pair of hair straighteners can easily set shoppers back by over £250 – just consider the prices of top-tier models from ghd and Dyson. So when a genuinely impressive tool drops to under £40, it’s worth shouting about.

The Faszin Hair Straightener is currently reduced to £39.99 from £119.98 in Amazon’s Prime Day sale, saving shoppers £90. Having tested the tool myself, I can confirm that this deal is a total steal.

Now, I’ve been a loyal fan of my GHD Chronos straighteners for some time. They consistently deliver salon-sleek results, and I’ve always considered them worth the high £289 price tag. So, I was genuinely curious to see how the noticeably more affordable Faszin’s would stack up.

Pretty well, it turns out. These straighteners transformed my hair from unruly and fluffy to sleek and polished in under five minutes. As someone with naturally wavy, fine-to-medium hair, I was seriously impressed by how quickly and efficiently I could style my entire head with minimal effort and no aching arms.

The extra-wide 42mm plates are a game-changer, allowing me to glide through larger sections of hair in a single pass. Plus, they heat up fast, reaching 180°C in 20 seconds.

Faszin hair straightener helps to increase hair shine by 23%, smoothness by 28%, and reduce frizz.

There are 11 temperatures in total (ranging from 130°C to 230°C), so I could easily customise the heat depending on my styling needs. The LCD display is another thoughtful touch, counting down how long is left until the chosen heat level is reached – a small detail, but it makes the process seem seamless.

That’s one area where they differ from the Chronos, which heat to an optimum 185°C and don’t offer adjustable settings. While that temp still works brilliantly for my hair, it’s definitely a bonus to have the option to go higher or lower depending on what I’m doing.

Another hair tool that allows you to alter the temperature is Cloud Nine’s The Touch Iron (£189), which has two heat settings: 165°C to 195°C. Otherwise, Remington’s Shine Therapy Hair Straightener (£23, down from £79) features a digital temperature display with nine settings ranging from 150°C to 230°C.

In terms of ease of use, the Faszin straighteners are lightweight and come with a 360 swivel cord, so I didn’t have to deal with frustrating wire tangles mid-style. I also loved the styling clips included in the box; they helped me section off hair neatly, so I could straighten each layer without constantly flicking pieces out of the way.

Once I was done, I used the lock feature to clamp the plates shut. Not only does this make storing them easier, but it also reduces the risk of burns after use.

Honestly, I don’t have any complaints about these straighteners. That being said, a couple of Amazon reviewers noted that they didn’t last more than six months, and I’ve only had mine for a few weeks, so only time will tell how true that is.

That said, for £39.99, they’re an absolute bargain and have firmly earned a place in my beauty routine. They’re available to shop via Amazon, but be quick if tempted, as the Prime Day sale ends on Friday (11th July).
