Give your Christmas day slippers a seriously stylish overhaul with FitFlops’ pink shearling mules that aren’t just chic, they’re comfortable and supportive enough to help bad back’
When it comes to Christmas Day outfits, I firmly believe that no matter how glam the rest of my look is, when it comes to my footwear I’m all about comfort. It doesn’t matter how many sequins or satin midi dresses I’m wearing, you will always find me in a cosy pair of slippers on my feet for the duration of Christmas Day.
And this year I’ve found the perfect pair that look stylish whilst still being ultra comfy; the FitFlop GEN-FF Buckle Curly-Shearling/Leather Mules. They have a chic design, but it’s their amazing arch support and and ergonomic footbed design that really won me over.

Currently on sale down from £180 to £144, now is the perfect time to get your hands on the FitFlop Shearling Mules, and they’re not only perfect for wearing around the house, but they’re designed to be worn outside too, so you really can get the most for your money.
‘The FitFlop Shearling Mules helped my back pain’
Just like the brand’s other best-selling footwear, the shearling mules have a cushioned Microwobbleboard midsole that feels light to wear but also helps provide shock absorption and spread pressure across your foot. They’ve also been ergonomically engineered to help make the most of your body’s natural alignment and movement, and have great arch support.
For someone like me, who struggles with back pain that’s exacerbated by everything from sitting crooked to wearing shoes that are too flat, these have been a godsend. The shearling mules have helped improve my posture and ease the pressure on my back, and despite wearing them all day around the house they’ve actually eased back pain symptoms.
‘They’re comfortable and stylish’
Now, ergonomic footbeds and arch support doesn’t sound very sexy or chic, but thankfully the FitFlop Shearling Mules also come with a gorgeous and stylish design, too. They’re made from thick, fluffy real shearling and leather, and have a buckled strap across the front which gives them an elevated feel.
You can pick from black, teal, beige, or – my personal favourite – bright pink, which instantly gives them a more fashionable twist. The bold colour is perfect for brightening up even a basic outfit, and considering you can also wear them outside, I wanted them to make a real statement.
They’re also incredibly warm and cosy, with the shearling being breathable and thermo-regularing so your feet stay toasty without getting too sweaty. Although the site does say they’re true to size, it also mentions that they’re a little wide fitting, and I found my usual size slightly roomy – I could have probably done with a half size smaller.
They also have a grip level 2, which means they’re suitable for wearing on light trails or country paths. I can’t say I’m planning on wearing them on a dog walk any time soon, but they’ve definitely made it into my styling rotation.
FitFlop shoppers have also been singing their praises, with one saying: “I bought these thinking they were cute and practical. They are much more than that. They are warm, comfortable, and help my back. The pink coloring does not rub off either.”
Whilst another added: “These slippers are so lovely, warm and comfortable, as are all the items I have purchased from you.”
However some mentioned they found the fluff to shed quite badly, writing: “I don’t like them at all they are leaving lumps of fluff all over the house which begs the question are they just fluff stuck onto the surface of another product rather than a skin. I would like to return themselves.”
Personally I’ve not found the shedding too bad – certainly no more than any other fluffy item I own – but if you can’t bear stray fluff you might want to look elsewhere. I also own a pair of Just Sheepskin’s Ladies Miley Sheepskin Slippers, which are £85 and I can confirm do not leave a trail of fuzz behind you.
If you want to avoid fluff altogether, mattress company Simba has recently launched a sleepwear range which includes the Stormur Slipper. Priced at £69, they’re designed to mimic the benefits and sensation of reflexology by applying gentle, cushioned pressure to key points on the soles of your feet.
