If you’ve ever tried to buy a Halloween costume for your kid or kids in mid-October, you’ll know the pain. Shelves are stripped bare, leaving only the least appealing with or scary plastic mask options left, which results in a child who desperately wanted to be something very specific having a mild breakdown. That’s why savvy parents are already getting a head start this year.

The trick? Knowing what’s likely to be popular. From the movies they’ve begged you to take them to and the video games you can’t drag them away from, to the viral toys and TikTok crazes that pop up in every conversation, the trends are all pointing in one direction. Here are the five costumes we (and the internet) are betting will be the most asked-for come Halloween 2025—so snap them up while they’re still in stock.

1. Kpop Demon Hunters

K-pop’s influence isn’t slowing down, and in 2025 it’s spilling over into Halloween costumes in a fun way. Ideal for older kids, there’s a way you can nab almost exact versions of items worn by favourites in Netflix’s KPop Demon Hunters movie, like Rumi’s yellow jacket or PJ pants, Zoey’s tropical bomber jacket or Mira’s polar bear sweatshirt.

Netflix is selling the official merchandise for the movie, with prices for t-shirts starting from around £26. The designs aren’t spooky or very cheap, but your kid will definitely think you’re the coolest parent ever.

However, if you want to find a K-pop look for less, Amazon stocks a great version of Rumi’s costume for £28.49. The purple braided wig for £17.85 will also transform any K-pop-inspired outfit you’re making from home.

2. Minecraft characters

If there’s one video game that never goes away, it’s Minecraft. Whether your child’s obsessed with Creepers, prefers to kit themselves out as Steve or Alex, or simply wants to wear a pixelated cardboard head, Minecraft costumes are eternally popular, and 2025 is no exception. This year, the hype is fuelled by updates and fresh viral YouTube content, with kids swapping build ideas and speed-run videos daily. You’ll definitely see green pixel patterns and blocky swords everywhere this Halloween.

Lots of these costumes from brands like Asda, Argos and Sainsbury’s have already sold out of the Crepper costume in many sizes, but you can find a great Minecraft Pixelated Creeper Boys Onesie for £26 from Matalan, which fits boys ages 7-14. You can also bag a bargain over at Wowcher, where Minecraft-inspired costumes for kids are retailing for £12.99 (instead of £49.99). You’ll find six different character looks to choose from. Finally, over on Amazon, there’s a fun Diamond Armour Minecraft Costume selling for £24.

Over on Halloweecostumes’ website, there are some great costumes ready to ship. The Minecraft Kid’s Classic Skeleton Costume, £40.99, is very effective, and so is their version of the Creeper costume for £35.99.

3. Enid and Wednesday

Wednesday has proved again this year to be a Netflix smash, and the fandom is thriving. While Wednesday herself, with her plaits, sharp collar and deadpan expression, remains the number one choice, don’t underestimate Enid’s appeal. Her pastel cardigans, rainbow nails and werewolf energy make her just as exciting to dress up as. Siblings and best-friend duos are especially drawn to the idea of going as the gothic-pastel pair, and it’s a look that’s both recognisable and easy to pull together cheaply.

Enid and Wednesday’s looks might already be easy to copy at home, but if not, just a few simple clothing purchases can help create their iconic styles for girls of all ages. For Enid, Lindex’s Fluffy Yarn Jumper for £24.99 looks just like something Enid wore in the series, while Superdrug’s Pick & Mix Colour Hairspray, £3, will let you spray sections of hair pink and purple temporarily.

If you do want more of an ‘official’ Wednesday look, those are available. John Lewis is selling a Kids’ Wednesday Addams Costume for £29.99, or Amazon stocks a Wednesday-inspired ballgown (from that memorable dance scene) complete with wig and accessories for £24.99.

4. Labubu

If you don’t already know Labubu, your kids probably do. The mischievous little creature from the Pop Mart collectable series has gone viral on TikTok and Instagram Reels, and can now be found attached to the fancy handbags of Gen Z and Millennial women. Plush toys are already trending as ‘it’ items, and it’s only a matter of time before Labubu costumes take over Halloween. The character’s cheeky expression and brightly coloured variations make it a kid-friendly monster—spooky, but still adorable enough for younger trick-or-treaters.

Since a Labubu is a new phenomenon, the internet isn’t yet flooded with ready-made outfit options. You can find some on wholesale sites like Temu, but your best bet is to create your own using a fluffy onesie. For babies, M&S’ Faux Fur Hooded Pramsuit, £22, even has the ears on it. For older kids and toddlers, you just need to pair a fluffy all-in-one, like Next’s version for boys here or John Lewis’ Kids’ Sherpa Onesie here, with a bit of simple face paint to create the Labubu teeth.

5. Inside Out 2 emotions

Pixar’s Inside Out 2 was one of the year’s biggest family films, and kids fell instantly in love with the new emotions- Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Nostalgia. Dressing up as one of the emotions is not only fun, it’s instantly recognisable thanks to the film’s bold colours and expressive features. Sibling groups or classmates can even coordinate as the full gang. Expect to see plenty of green face paint (Envy), fuzzy pink hoodies (Embarrassment), and, of course, Joy’s bright yellow dresses flooding trick-or-treat routes this year.

Of course, you can easily make your own costumes from home using bright clothing in the colour of your chosen emotion, but if you want to order something to save you sorting through old clothes, Amazon stocks Joy and Disgust costumes for kids ages 2-10 for £21.99. For the boys, the Anxiety costume for the same price here is simple and effective.
