Beauty expert Nadine Baggott appeared on ITV’s This Morning to discuss the benefits of caffeine in skincare products – and shared some of her top recommendations
Caffeine isn’t just a pick-me-up for your morning routine; it’s also making waves in the beauty world, as revealed on This Morning by beauty guru Nadine Baggott. She joined hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary to sing the praises of a ‘game changer’ skincare product that uses caffeine to tackle common skin issues.
Nadine shared how caffeine acts as a vasoconstrictor, reducing blood vessels near the skin’s surface, thus helping to lessen puffiness, redness, and those pesky dark circles under the eyes. After the show, she took to social media to further explain: “If you understand that caffeine is a mild vasoconstrictor then these all make sense to boost blood and lymph flow and there is science behind these actions not just wishful thinking.”
In her spotlight was Dr. Idriss’ The Depuffer, a ‘miracle gel’ hailed by users for erasing dark circles and suitable for every skin type, reports OK!.

Despite its £39 price tag, which is steeper than some competitors like The Ordinary’s 5% Caffeine Solution, The Depuffer boasts an innovative applicator, described by the brand as ‘the first face roller that actively rolls away your problems’.
Nadine shared her thoughts on the daytime talk show, saying, “Dr Idriss is a brand new American dermatologist that’s just launched in the UK. This is The Depuffer, but it actually takes redness out of the skin too. The reason it costs more is not the caffeine – it’s a super cheap ingredient – but it’s got a little cooling applicator so in the morning when you’re a bit puffy you can use it all over your face for anti redness and anti puffiness. It has other ingredients as well but caffeine is one of the main ingredients.”
Additionally, the Dr Idriss serum contains arnica for decreasing apparent swelling, along with centella asiatica to combat visible face redness. Clinical trials by Dr. Idriss have shown that The Depuffer swiftly diminishes skin redness and under-eye puffiness, with cumulative benefits observed over continuous usage.
The formula has earned accolades from major beauty awards, including Allure’s Best of Beauty and Harper’s Bazaar Anti-Aging Skincare Awards. On the Dr Idriss website, it earned a 4.59 star rating, with shoppers praising the powerhouse product. One wrote: “The Depuffer is a game-changer for my tired eyes and rosy cheeks! It seriously takes down the redness within minutes of using, and the applicator feels amazing on the skin.”
Another hailed it as a ‘miracle gel’, commenting: “I’ve suffered with redness on my cheeks my entire life; the last 5 years I’ve suffered from deep dark eye circles that almost made me look like a crypt keeper. Fast forward to this lil beauty the Depuffer has been an absolute game changer for me. My dark circles have disappeared – like gone, gone! I can’t believe it.
“The redness in my cheeks has become increasingly less noticeable, like to the point my face one shade! In my 40 years of life I don’t think I can remember a time where my face wasn’t flushed or 3 different colours. This lil beauty is definitely a game changer and I don’t leave home without it. I always buy 2; one for my vanity and one for my purse. Absolute game changer, please don’t ever mess with this amazing formula.”
However, others have been disappointed in the serum’s consistency, adding: “I had very big expectations but it leaves a sticky residue on my skin that I don´t like at all.”
Meanwhile, a fourth penned: “I started using this product about 2 months ago. Within about 10 days, I noticed a significant decrease in the redness on my face. My husband even noticed and commented on how clear and fresh my skin looked (without prompting him). I now have almost zero redness and can apply makeup without first having to use a green colour corrector on the redness. I’m buying my second bottle and highly recommend this product if you have any type of redness on your face. While it seems pricey, this is the only product that has done what it says it’s supposed to.”
If you’re looking for something more affordable, Nadine rates The Ordinary Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG 30ml. She said: “Most of the studies done on caffeine topically is 5% so this is gold standard at a reasonable price. It basically shrinks the blood vessels so it takes the redness and puffiness out so if it takes the redness out, it takes away dark circles.”
