Alison Hammond made the admission on This Morning today about her big error with her air fryer and said her huge mistake nearly caused her to set her wall on fire
Alison Hammond has issued a warning to This Morning viewers after making a big mistake with her air fryer. The This Morning host was on the show today with Dermot O’Leary as they marked the end of the week.
For the cooking segment, they were joined by chef Donal, who was cooking some spicy air-fried chicken tacos for them. He described them as a perfect dinner or lunch to make in just 20 minutes, with the help of everyone’s favourite kitchen essential – the air fryer.
The recipe called for chicken thighs, taco seasoning and olive oil amongst other ingredients as Donal mixed the marinade over the chicken before popping it in the air fryer drawer.
However, he warned the viewers they would be best pre-heating their air fryer before cooking in it, leaving Alison perplexed. She admitted she never did that, before sharing her own air fryer story which nearly ended in disaster.
She recalled how once she had “nearly set fire to her wall” in her kitchen after after leaving her air fryer too close to the wall. She warned people to always pull their air fryers away from the wall to avoid a similar disaster.
Alison has been open about her own personal health and fitness journey recently, sharing more details about her staggering 11 stone weight loss, which was prompted by her own concerns when she was diagnosed as pre-diabetic.
“I feel amazing. I feel happy within myself. I’ve got a personal trainer – she’s amazing. She trains me when I can train. If I’m working, I don’t train, I’ll go for a walk,” she said of her workout routine.
Adding about her health and diet changes, she explained: “My mum had type 2 diabetes and she was worried for me, so when I then found out that I was pre-diabetic, that was frightening. I thought: ‘I have to be an adult about this’.
“The sweets had to stop – and the fatty foods. I’m no longer pre-diabetic, so I’m a bit naughtier with my food now. But because my body’s working properly, I can allow myself a bit of sugar here and there.”
She added: “I love my new shape and although I still have areas I’m conscious of, such as my arms and tummy, it’s great being able to wear things I would never have been able to before. I mean, look at me, I’m a bombshell.”
Alison said at one point she weighed 28 stone. She said: “I was nearly 28 stone, I’ll be honest with you, and that is morbidly obese. And I used to buy an extra seat because I didn’t want to put anyone in a situation where I was touching them…
“I was made to feel uncomfortable on one occasion when I was so close to someone’s seat, and they asked to move, but they ended up moving me into first class.
“It was embarrassing the whole thing, and from that moment, I just started buying two seats. I don’t do it anymore because I’ve lost a bit of timber, but not everyone can afford to do that.”
