A good waterproof jacket is absolutely essential for autumn’s rainy weather and TOG24 just launched its first ever trench coat which is fully waterproof and machine-washable

There are two types of outerwear that should be a staple in everyone’s autumn wardrobe – a trench coat, and a waterproof. Although a classic trench coat will typically only keep you dry during a light shower, TOG24 is here to change the game as it launches its first ever trench coat – that’s completely waterproof.

The Alva Waterproof Jacket, £170, just skyrocketed to the top of our autumn wardrobe wishlist, as it combines a classic chic trench-style design with the outdoor brand’s best-loved waterproofing. Plus, thanks to its timeless design, it’s a jacket that you can pull out year after year and season after season, making it a worthwhile investment.

The Alva trench coat has a 10K waterproof rating as well as taped seams to keep the rain from seeping through whilst also trapping the warm in so you stay nice and cosy even in the most miserable weather. It’s also fully windproof, stopping those autumn gales from creeping through.

Unlike most trench coats, the Alva waterproof coat also comes with a hood which is both removable and adjustable thanks to the drawcords, so you can alter your coat depending on the weather. There’s even a two-way zip which makes it comfortable and easy to move around in as well as giving you more options for those temperamental weather conditions. It’s even fully machine washable, so you don’t need to worry about it getting muddy whilst out and about.

As well as being wildly practical, the Alva Waterproof Jacket is also a decidedly chic addition to your autumn wardrobe. It has all the hallmarks of a great classic trench coat, with layered lapels, button-fastening tabs on the cuffs and side pockets which fasten with a press stud.

You can also adjust the fit thanks to the toggled adjusters around the waist, so you can leave it loose and baggy for those extra layers underneath, or pull it tight and cinch in the waist for a more defined, flattering silhouette. Pick from either a classic beige or a trending khaki colour, with sizes 8-18 available in both colours.

For another timeless style that’s also fully waterproof, Marks and Spencer’s new Cotton Rich Stormwear Car Coat, £65, manages to check off all the boxes when it comes to both practicality and style, too. Some shoppers have even been comparing it favourably to Burberry’s iconic Camden Heritage Car Coat, which retails for an eye-watering £1590, saying: “Looks like a Burberry car coat without the price.”
