Thomas Tuchel is being urged to hand first senior call up to Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson, who has played for both England and Scotland at U21, after a stunning season for Premier League surprise packed
Elliot Anderson’s maiden England call-up is right around the corner, according to Nottingham Forest team-mate Harry Toffolo.
Midfielder Anderson, 22, has been a key cog in Nuno Espirito Santo’s slick machine as Forest eye FA Cup glory and a top-five finish to bring Champions League football to the City Ground.
The former Newcastle player has represented both England and Scotland at Under-21 level. But with Three Lions boss Thomas Tuchel lacking depth in the centre, Toffolo is convinced quiet leader Anderson will soon be shining on the senior international stage.
“It’s just a matter of time before he knocks on the door of a senior England call up because he’s been absolutely outstanding,” the left back said.

“He deserves every single plaudit he gets because he’s been incredible. He’s not just brought quality on the pitch, he’s brought personality off the pitch. A lot of the time in a first-team dressing room you need a big personality and he’s brought that.
“He’s become a leader in such a short space of time. He’s not really a big talker but he leads through example with how he plays on the pitch.”
Anderson scored his second goal of the season in last Monday’s win against Tottenham Hotspur in north London to move Forest back into the Champions League spots. He has also contributed six league assists.
Forest, who beat Brighton in the previous round after a penalty shootout, may be the underdogs against Manchester City this afternoon. But having defeated them at home in the league last month, Toffolo insists Nuno’s men will not be daunted at Wembley.
“Already we’ve achieved so much as a group but we want more. That’s just the way we are as people. We’re excited, we’re really looking forward to it,” he said.
“We’re not nervous. We’ll take it to City, the manager will come with a game plan that we’ll execute well. They won’t want to play us either. It should be an unbelievable day.”
