Liverpool could win the Premier League on Sunday if they avoid defeat when Tottenham make the trip to Anfield and both sides have recently welcomed players back from injury
Liverpool need to pick up just one point against Tottenham on Sunday to officially be crowned Premier League champions, with Arne Slot having enjoyed an excellent first season in charge of the Reds.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are currently sat 16th in the league and Ange Postecoglou’s primary focus is now the Europa League with Spurs set to host Bodo/Glimt in the first leg of their semi-final clash on Thursday.
Tottenham will qualify for next season’s Champions League if they can win the Europa League and Postecoglou rested several key players for Spurs’ 2-1 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Monday as a result.
Postecoglou may well decide to do the same thing when Tottenham travel to Anfield this Sunday, although his squad is not struggling with too many injury problems. Defender Radu Dragusin remains a long-term absentee, having suffered an ACL injury in January.
Club captain Heung-min Son is also set to miss the game with a foot injury, although he has stepped up his recovery and trained outdoors on Friday. Postecoglou is hopeful Son could return to action against Bodo/Glimt.

“We don’t really have injury problems,” Postecoglou said. “Obviously Sonny’s the one that’s kind of working, trying to work his way back, and he’s improving, which is positive for us, not for Sunday.
“Apart from obviously the longer-term ones, everyone else from the last game has backed up really well, so the rest of the squad’s fit and available, and in terms of team selection we’ll see. We’ve got another 48 hours to decide which way we go.”
Kevin Danso could make his first start after recovering from a hamstring injury, while James Maddison is fully fit after he was forced off against Frankfurt with a head injury. Maddison was an unused substitute against Forest.
Liverpool, meanwhile, could hand Trent Alexander-Arnold his first start since March after he returned to action against Leicester last week. Alexander-Arnold scored the winner after coming off the bench to replace Conor Bradley.
Joe Gomez remains sidelined with a hamstring injury, but the defender could return to action before the end of the season. “If his recovery goes well, he would be able to [play] maybe in the last one or two games of the season,” Slot said when asked about Gomez’s recovery.
“But he is still not training with us yet. But he is coming closer and closer to train with the team.”
Tyler Morton returned to action in the Premier League 2 earlier this month, having been sidelined with a shoulder injury back in January that forced him to undergo surgery.
