Vicious Aaron Hinsley, of Blyth, Northumberland, went to the home of his former partner where he found her with a male friend, who he repeatedly stabbed after finding him hiding in her wardrobe
A brute who repeatedly stabbed a man he found hiding in the wardrobe in his ex-girlfriend’s bedroom has been put behind bars. Aaron Hinsley had warned his former partner in a series of threatening messages that he would be gunning for any new man she met and he would be getting “punched up”.
Newcastle Crown Court heard on October 10 last year Hinsley, who had his birthday that day, turned up at the woman’s house in the late evening, when she had a male friend there and smashed his way in through the front door. He then found the man hiding in her wardrobe and repeatedly stabbed him.
Mr Recorder Peter Makepeace KC today jailed Hinsley for five years and nine months. Prosecutor Sam Faulks said the woman and friend realised Hinsley was entering the house and added: “They made their way up to her bedroom and the man was persuaded to hide in her wardrobe.
“The defendant pursued them into the bedroom and he opened the bedroom wardrobe and located the man. The defendant then pulled out a knife from his right trouser pocket. He pushed the man down into a pile of clothes.
“The first stab pierced the skin of his left shoulder area and the woman recalls there being between four and five stab motions, she attempted to intervene and he lunged around her and stabbed him on the left eyebrow.”
Mr Faulks said the woman believed Hinsley was trying to stab her too and that was only prevented by her injured friend pushing him out of the way.
The court heard the man suffered stab wounds to his head, eyebrow, upper arm and one to the inner corner of his left eye.
Hinsley, 27 of Ingram Drive, Blyth, Northumberland, admitted stalking the woman by sending the repeated messages, aggravated burglary and wounding with intent.
Ian Cook, defending, said: “He accepts he dealt with the relationship breakdown in an appalling manner.” Mr Cook said Hinsley has a history of mental health problems, has enrolled on courses in prison on remand and now accepts the break up.
The court heard Hinsley had not been taking his prescribed medication at the time and was self medicating with cannabis, cocaine and alcohol.
