TikTok ‘Tube girl’ puts TfL ban rumours to bed in candid video confession

Sabrina Bahsoon, known as the ‘Tube Girl’, gained a lot of popularity by filming videos of herself using London’s public transport – until she stopped. So, what happened to her?

Has the Tube Girl ever come across you TikTok For You Page? Or maybe you’ve spotted the social media star posing on the Victoria Line. Sabrina Bahsoon, widely known as the ‘Tube Girl,’ became a TikTok sensation in 2023 with her viral dancing videos on the London Underground.

Her content showed her dancing and lip-syncing to popular songs while travelling on the Tube. Sabrina’s videos quickly captured the attention of TikTok users with her carefree dancing style and the added wind-blown hair effect of the breeze from the open carriage windows.

The success of Sabrina Bahsoon’s videos led to several brand partnerships. MAC Cosmetics was the first major brand to collaborate with her, naming her their Global Brand Ambassador. Sabrina even walked for the makeup brand during London Fashion Week and filming behind-the-scenes content for her TikTok.

But in 2024, it all stopped. Reports surfaced that Sabrina had been asked to stop filming commercial content on the Tube without prior permission from Transport for London (TfL). TfL regulations state that filming on public transport, especially for commercial purposes, requires a permit.

Sabrina seemingly fuelled rumours of a TFL ban when she posted a video titled ‘Final Tube Video as a 22-Year-Old. But in another TikTok upload, Sabrina addressed the rumour of whether she had been banned from filming on the Tube.

“Was I ever banned from using the Tube? I’m finally going to address this because it’s the most requested question in my comments section,” Sabrina started before explaining that her decision to stop making Tube videos had nothing to do with being banned. “I was never banned from using the Tube. Honestly, guys, I stopped doing the Tube videos because I just became a very insecure person,” she confessed.

Sabrina also said that the experience of sharing her videos online and receiving constant feedback had taken a toll on her mental health. “It was my first exposure to the internet. Subconsciously, reading all of those comments was taking such a toll on my mental health,” she added.

The TikToker shared that she only felt comfortable making content on the Tube when she was accompanied by other celebrities. Sabrina has teamed up with a range of notable A-listers for her videos, including Camila Cabello, Nelly Furtado, Nicole Scherzinger, Tyla, Joe Jonas, Shy Smith, Artemas, and Chloe Bailey, among others.

Sabrina’s overnight fame saw her TikTok following rise to an impressive 797k with her videos collectively receiving 39.7 million views. On Instagram, she has around 106k followers, where she shares the behind-the-scenes of her life. From attending fashion shows, to luxurious holidays, collaborating with brands and an occasional Tube-related video.

She has since shifted her focus towards promoting her music career, marking a new chapter in her creative journey. Her recent and debut single, ‘NOT MY KIND,’ was released earlier this month, and she has been actively promoting her music through all of her social media platforms – even treating fans to the song having its own Tube clip.
