Tom Brady will make his broadcasting debut in just two weeks, and one of his former teammates has already taken a cheeky shot at the legendary quarterback
Drew Bledsoe, the former New England Patriots quarterback who passed the torch to Tom Brady, has cheekily taken aim at the legendary QB as he gears up for his broadcasting debut in the 2024 season.
Brady, who inked a staggering 10-year, $375 million deal with FOX Sports prior to hanging up his cleats in 2022, is just a fortnight away from embracing his new role – a position where numerous ex-players have excelled. Bledsoe is confident Brady will join that successful cohort.
In recent years, ex-NFL stars like Tony Romo, Greg Olsen, and the McCourty twins have made seamless transitions into broadcasting, earning acclaim for their work. Meanwhile, Peyton and Eli Manning have garnered widespread praise for their unique play-by-play show.
Discussing his expectations for Brady’s upcoming stint in the commentary box, Bledsoe couldn’t resist a playful dig at his one-time teammate, remarking: “I know that Tommy will work it to death… I will get kind of tired of his squeaky a– voice, but I know he’ll do a great job calling the games”.
He further commented: “It’s the guys that do the work that are great at it and it’s really that simple when you look at it. You look at Aikman, you look at Romo… I mean everyone looks at Romo like he’s predicting the future. Well, he went to practice and he saw what they ran from that formation and that’s what they did.”
Bledsoe, who had been a teammate of Brady’s for two years, was the starting quarterback before a severe knee injury saw Brady take his place. Brady then led the Patriots to a Super Bowl victory in his first full season and never relinquished his spot.

Brady stayed with the Patriots for 20 seasons, winning six Super Bowl championships. He then added another championship to his tally with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, solidifying his status as the greatest of all time.
After retiring post the 2022 season, Brady decided to take a year off from the sport. However, he returned in a different role as a colour commentator.
The 46 year old will join Kevin Burkhardt as a co-commentator in Cleveland on September 8 when the Browns host Dallas in Week 1 of the regular season. The seven-time Super Bowl winner will replace Greg Olsen on FOX’s number one team.
