Tom Cruise movie halts filming as ‘very famous’ co-star is hospitalised

By staff7 March 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Tom Cruise’s new film, which has the working title of ‘Judy’, has been halted after a ‘very famous’ actor suffered an injury on set and was hospitalised

Actor Tom Cruise’s latest cinematic venture has hit a snag as production came to a standstill following an on-set injury to one of its stars.

The 62-year-old Hollywood icon is tackling the role of a megalomaniac in the upcoming film, tentatively titled Judy. He shares the screen with the likes of John Goodman, Jesse Plemons, and Riz Ahmed.

However, drama unfolded at Pinewood Studios when a high-profile cast member was rushed to hospital with serious injuries to their pelvis and leg. A source claimed: “The actor is renowned for loving spectacular stunts which obviously involve some element of danger and the risk of injury – though they always strive to keep any risk to an absolute minimum.”

With the injured star being a major name, the insider revealed that the production could face losses in the “millions” during the actor’s recovery period. They added to The Sun: “This incident won’t just be alarming in terms of having someone so famous suffer such a major injury, it will also prove costly on a project which has cost millions and is on a very tight schedule.”

Oscar-winning director Alejandro González Iñárritu is steering this ship, marking his return to English language films since the acclaimed ‘The Revenant’ in 2015. Iñárritu penned the script last year alongside Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris, his collaborators from the 2014 hit ‘Birdman’, and Sabina Berman.

The film is slated for an October 2026 release. Inarritu’s 2014 masterpiece ‘Birdman’ bagged four Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Director, with its lead Michael Keaton earning a nomination for Best Actor. His subsequent film ‘The Revenant’ was another Oscar triumph, securing Inarritu his second Best Director award, a Best Actor win for DiCaprio, and an additional accolade for cinematography.

Last month, Tom was hailed as a “legend” by fans for a death-defying stunt. The actor, who is also known for his roles in Jerry Maguire, War of the Worlds, and Vanilla Sky, revealed he “passed out multiple times” during a recent risky stunt. For it, he clung to the side of an airborne vehicle, with minimal safety measures to prevent a potentially fatal fall.

While shooting the stunt on an airplane for Mission: Impossible: The Final Reckoning, he faced a life-threatening challenge. He admitted he had to learn how to breathe with reduced oxygen levels. In an interview with Empire magazine, Cruise said: “When you stick your face out, going over 120 to 130 miles an hour, you’re not getting oxygen. So I had to train myself how to breathe. There were times I would pass out physically; I was unable to get back into the cockpit.”
