Tom Holland’s father, comedian Dominic Holland, has confirmed his son is engaged to actress Zendaya following speculation she was wearing a diamond ring on her wedding finger
Tom Holland is engaged to Zendaya, his father has confirmed.
Dominic Holland told how “incredibly well prepared” the Spider-Man actor was for popping the question, even getting the blessing from the star’s dad.
Zendaya, 28, set tongues wagging with a dazzling diamond on her ring finger at the Golden Globes, leading fans to suspect wedding bells were in the air. Fans were right to talk, as comedian Dominic confirmed the news in a blog post.
In the post, the 57-year-old funnyman compared his son’s big moment to his own less-than-perfect proposal to Nikki, Tom’s mother. Writing on his Patreon, Dominic shared: “Tom, as you know by now was very incredibly well prepared. He had purchased a ring. He had spoken with her father and gained permission to propose to his daughter.
“Tom had everything planned out… When, where, how, what to say, what to wear…” “I on the other hand was woefully ill-prepared, almost as though I wasn’t taking it seriously.”
He also mused that while most men worry about affording an engagement ring, he reckons Tom was “more concerned with the stone, its size and clarity, its housing, which jeweller”.
The A-list couple have been an item since 2021, after their chemistry sizzled on-screen in Marvel’s Spider-Man: Homecoming. Tom’s dad opened up about his concerns regarding the couple’s high-profile romance, sharing: “I do fret that their combined stardom will amplify their spotlight and the commensurate demands on them and yet they continually confound me by handling everything with aplomb.”
He went on to say: “And even though show-business is a messy place for relationships and particularly so for famous couples as they crash and burn in public and are too numerous to mention, with us an example, with Nikki helming this family and my ‘wisdom’ on tap and a study in getting things mostly wrong and yet somehow right at the same time, I am completely confident they will make a successful union.”
Hollywood darling Zendaya began her ascent to stardom as a child model and actress on Disney Channel, springboarding into the mainstream with Spider-Man: Homecoming. Sharing the screen, Holland took on the iconic role of the titular hero while Zendaya played his romantic interest MJ across the latest trio of Spider-Man films.
Zendaya hasn’t just swung across skyscrapers; she has captivated audiences in HBO’s teen drama Euphoria, stepped onto the sands of Arrakis in Dune’s blockbuster revival, sung alongside Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman, and faced fresh challenges in Challengers. Holland tapped into his diverse acting talents early, making his stage debut in the lauded Billy Elliot The Musical back in 2008.
Roles in a West End production of Romeo And Juliet followed, and movie roles ranging from science fiction in Chaos Walking, to the eerie horror of The Devil All The Time, to the gritty crime flick Cherry have all showcased his varied range.
