Top Tech: Disney+ £1.99 per month deal is back but with one major upgrade

By staff13 June 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

Disney Plus has relaunched one of our favourite deals of 2024, but this time there’s a major change that’s good news for telly fans

Brits can save 60% on a Disney+ subscription this month

This week saw the return of one of our favourite streaming deals as Disney+ relaunched an unbeatable discount that cuts a subscription to less than £2. It may not be the first time we’ve seen this deal, but that doesn’t make it any less enticing.

We covered the same deal in the very first edition of our Top Tech series way back in September, but now it’s back and with one major upgrade. New and returning customers can now subscribe to Disney+ Standard with Ads for £1.99.

In previous campaigns, those signing up for the deal could lock in the discounted rate for three months, but this time it’s been extended to four months of cheaper access. A four-month subscription to the Standard with Ads tier would usually cost a total of £19.96 over four months, but the latest deal reduces this to £7.96 – a £12 saving.

This marks a 60% drop from the usual £4.99 monthly price. However, this is a ‘limited time promotion’ and is set to expire on June 30.

At the end of the four-month promotional period, Disney+ Standard with Ads will automatically renew at the then-current monthly retail price until cancelled, which now sits at £4.99. With the deal, Disney+ is now the cheapest platform among the major streamers, beating the cheapest subscription tiers of Netflix (£5.99), Amazon’s Prime Video (£5.99) and Apple TV+ (£8.99).

Disney+ has brought back its popular deal that lets new and returning customers join its Standard with Ads plan for £1.99 per month for four months.

This means members can stream hit shows like Andor, The Bear and Alien: Earth, plus countless titles from Star Wars and Marvel, for a fraction of the usual price.

It offers streaming in 1080p Full HD video, up to 5.1 audio and the ability to stream on two devices simultaneously. These are the same features included with Netflix’s Standard with Ads tier but for a fraction of the price.

Like many of us, the thought of adverts interrupting our favourite titles can be off-putting, but Disney+ actually plays fewer ads than terrestrial TV. It shows on average less than four minutes per hour of TV, while ads will only play before a film starts and not during.

There is a way to save even more money on a Disney+ subscription for those who are happy to make a longer-term commitment. Disney+ offers the equivalent of two months free with its annual Standard and Premium plans, which provide 12 months access for the price of 10.

This saves up to £25.98, while Premium also includes higher video quality up to 4K UHD and HDR and four concurrent streams. The latest deal comes ahead of a stellar summer slate which includes Marvel’s Ironheart (June 25), season four of The Bear (June 26) and new prequel series Alien: Earth (August 13).

They’re set to join an ever-growing library featuring recent hits and critically acclaimed series, Andor, Welcome to Wrexham, Rivals, Only Murders in the Building and Shōgun, as well as Disney blockbuster Snow White. Disney+ members have been raving about the streamer’s library on Trustpilot, with one five-star review hailing its ‘fantastic and constantly updated collection’.

Another says: “I love Disney+. I’m a Star Wars and Marvel fan but since the addition of Starz it boosted my love, there’s even more content for adults now that’s worth it all round.”

However, the same member added: “Only reason it didn’t get five stars is Disney are not using their other brands in the subscription. If they did this could easily be the best subscription service ever but there is much more content locked behind their own service.”

This happy streamer said: “Good servers, good services, this nostalgia when watching old cartoons from TV. The subscription is really cheap compared to other streaming services.”

While this five-star review said: “Very good selection, friendly support and easy to cancel if you need to. Very easy to navigate their site and the openess and transparency they show should be a model for others.”
