Top Tech: Sky Sports fans race to bag £120 discount and £1 add-on in flash sale

Sky Sports is offering a bargain deal for telly and sport fans alike, but it’s not around for long. The provider has kicked off a surprise flash sale that’s seen the Essential TV, Sky Sports and UHD package slashed to £36 per month – equal to roughly £1.20 per day.

Typically, the Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle costs £35, but for a limited time, new customers can also bag the Ultra HD feature for an additional £1. This represents a saving of £120 from the usual £41 per month rate and provides access to more than 100 channels, including full Sky Sports coverage of the Premier League, Carabao Cup, Formula 1, cricket, and NFL.

The package also includes select channels that offer four times the clarity of Full HD, plus free Netflix and Discovery+ subscriptions at no extra cost. However, the clock is ticking to claim the deal before it ends at 11.59pm on Thursday, October 30.

This flash sale from Sky competes with Virgin Media’s recent TV update, which introduced new TV and broadband bundles, including its £59.99 Sport bundle. Although more expensive than Sky’s offer, it also includes 362Mbps fibre broadband and 200 TV channels – eight of which are from Sky Sports – plus Netflix Standard with Ads.

Sky customers also have the option to personalise their package with additional features like Sky Cinema (£10) and TNT Sports (£25). To take advantage of the discounted Sky Sports package, customers must agree to a 24-month contract with Sky Stream, the provider’s latest device that operates via WiFi rather than a traditional satellite dish or aerial, reports Wales Online.

Sky is offering its Essential TV, Sky Sports and UHD bundle for £36 until October 30.

When signing up for a contract, it’s important to remember that Sky has stated its prices ‘may change’ during the 24-month term. Earlier this year, Sky hiked its TV and broadband prices by 6.2%.

While there’s no confirmation yet, we could see a similar increase in April 2026. Meanwhile, EE customers are bracing set for even higher bill increases, with packages like EE Sport with Full Fibre 74 (£44.99) set to rise by £6 annually.

However, Sky has won over many of its customers with its sports coverage, earning a flurry of positive reviews on Trustpilot. One five-star review says: “Wonderful presentation, commentary and punditry on football and cricket.

“Sport is dynamic, and so Sky Sports embraces changes in its package to reflect what’s happening. The sporting fixtures shown include a high proportion of the great contests.”

Another satisfied customer said: “I don’t usually post reviews, but big shout out to Sky Sports+, the new sports channel. Brilliant and for once Sky, in line with other sports platforms. I love it.”

However, not everyone is as thrilled with the Sky Sports coverage, as one customer said: “I pay a lot of money to watch Sky Sports and all they are interested in is cutting to adverts at the earliest opportunity and cutting off the commentators.”

But this happy customer said: “Sky Sports is really good and reliable, its football reviews and news are so good. Sky Sports on top.”
