A travel expert has explained there’s a simple trick to bag the best seats on a Ryanair flight. The content creator, known as Live_TheDash on TikTok, also shared his thoughts on the best seats on board
Holidaymakers are often thrilled at the prospect of jetting off to sunnier climes, sipping cocktails and lounging by the pool. However, the journey there can sometimes be the most stressful part.
If you’re a Ryanair traveller, a travel expert has recently shared some tips that might just make your trip smoother. He suggests a straightforward way to dodge the seat allocation process and “bag the best seats”.
The advice comes from a content creator known as Live_TheDash on TikTok, who claims this method ensures you “don’t pay any extra for your seat on the plane”. But he warns not to be “fooled” by the process.
He elaborates: “This function should actually be called guaranteed middle seat, in the middle of the plane, as far away from the rest of your party as the algorithm will allow, but you can beat the system.
“If you do decide to cave in, and buy a seat on the plane, please remember these golden rules. Choose a seat in front of an extra legroom chair to guarantee noone kicks you in the back.
“The right hand side of the plane actually has one less row, so you get an extra inch of leg room in D, E and F. Remember, row one is just a permanent ticket to a never-ending toilet queue.
“But if you really don’t want to pay, there is another option. Hang around the check-in desk like a bad smell, enter using the back door and make sure you’re the very last person on the plane.
“As you walk down the cabin, choose any free chair you like.” Since the video was posted, it’s racked up over 24,000 views with people eagerly sharing their travel hacks and opinions. One viewer advised: “Never pay the extra and always have good places.”
Echoing a carefree attitude, someone else said: “Couldn’t care less where I sit.” Dishing out their own strategy, another shared: “I just wait until the last minute to check in, and always end up with the best seat.”
When it comes to flying with Ryanair, customers are faced with a choice: fork out for reserved seating or let fate decide with a free seat, which is randomly allocated during check-in.
People opting for the luck of the draw, dubbed “random seat allocation” can log in from 24 hours to two hours before takeoff time. On the flip side, if you snap up a specific seat while booking, checking in, or any time before the flight, you get to claim your spot.
Keen to start their getaway on the right note, passengers who have splashed the cash on a reserved seat can also check in online a whopping 60 days in advance of departure. Depending on your chosen location aboard the aircraft, prices vary.
The airline’s website breaks down the no-frills approach, stating: “If you choose not to pay to reserve a seat, your seat will be assigned to you free of charge when you check in, between 24 hours and two hours prior to departure.”
