Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce was asked about the possibility of marrying his partner Taylor Swift – who is expected to attend Super Bowl LVIII on Sunday
Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce was asked a cheeky question about his relationship with Taylor Swift ahead of Super Bowl LVIII.
Speaking at a press conference before Sunday’s big game, Kelce was asked whether Super Bowl opponents the San Francisco 49ers will end their 29-year wait for a sixth Super Bowl title before he proposes to his girlfriend. He responded with a laugh: “I’m hoping I get this ring on Sunday, I know that.”
Despite Swift’s busy schedule, with concerts in Japan as part of her Eras Tour, she’s expected to fly back to the US to attend the Super Bowl. The 34-year-old said their relationship doesn’t add any extra pressure, stating: “You can’t put any more pressure on me than I put on myself, I can promise you that.”
He also praised Swift’s impact on the sport, saying: “The heart of a competitor. She’s definitely brought a lot of new faces to the game, and it’s been fun to experience that. She seems to be enjoying the games and she’s a part of Chiefs Kingdom right now. It’s fun seeing her enjoy the game of football knowing that it’s kind of new to her life.”

Kelce and the Chiefs are trying to grab back-to-back Super Bowl victories – something not seen since the New England Patriots triumphed in 2003 and 2004.
They’re also hoping to join the ranks of only eight other NFL teams that have ever won the Vince Lombardi Trophy two years in-a-row. However, the team standing in their way is none other than the 49ers, who they defeated in the 2020 Super Bowl.

The NFC West franchise aims to notch up its sixth title, potentially tying with the New England Patriots and the Pittsburgh Steelers for the most Super Bowl wins for one team. Despite this, the Chiefs are set to play their fourth Super Bowl in five years and they seem unfazed and determined to retain their winning streak.
For Kelce, he’s energised by the promise of a third Super Bowl ring, further solidifying his status as one of the best tight ends ever. “I’ve been on a mission ever since I won my first Super Bowl,” he confessed and shared how his lone Super Bowl defeat to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while unfortunate, stoked his drive to succeed.
“You’ll hear me say this a lot – I want this one more than I’ve ever wanted a Super Bowl before in my life, and it’s because of the type of team we have,” he added. “But also because of that tier of team because the teams that have done it [three times] have gone down in history as some of the greats.”
