Trump diagnosed with health condition in 1960’s as a ‘favour’ to his dad for ‘one special reason’

The daughters of a New York based foot doctor said that their late father diagnosed President Trump with bone spurs as a favor to his father, Fred Trump

The daughters of a New York based foot doctor said that their late father diagnosed President Trump with bone spurs to help him avoid the Vietnam War draft.

Dr Larry Braunstein, a podiatrist who worked in Queens and died in 2007, diagnosed Trump with the condition as a favour to his father, Fred Trump, according to a new report. Dr Elysa Braunstein and Sharon Kessel, the daughters of the late doctor, told the New York Times that he would retell the story often.

“It was family lore,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, adding that the story was “something we would always discuss” among family and friends. The news emerges after the chronic condition Donald Trump diagnosed with was explosed as experts explain what it is.

The Times did not find documentation to back up the family’s account, reports the Mirror US.

Elysa Braunstein said she was unsure if her father ever even examined Donald Trump.

Dr Braunstein rented his office in Jamaica, Queens, from Fred Trump in the 1960s, according to records obtained by the Times.

His two daughters told the publication that their father provided the diagnosis of bone spurs as a courtesy to the elder Trump.

“I know it was a favor,” Elysa Braunstein told the Times, who added that the “small favor” got her father “access” to Fred Trump.

“If there was anything wrong in the building, my dad would call and (Fred) Trump would take care of it immediately,” she continued.

Elysa Braunstein said that her father implied that President Trump did not have a foot ailment. In 1968, following his graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, Donald Trump received a diagnosis of bone spurs in his heels at 22 years old, according to CNN.

Before this medical exemption, Trump had deferred military service four times whilst pursuing his studies.

During a 2016 interview with The Times, Trump stated that a doctor “gave me a letter – a very strong letter – on the heels” to present to draft authorities. However, in the same interview, Trump was unable to remember the physician’s name.

Heel spurs are bony growths resulting from calcium deposits on the heel bone. The condition can be treated through stretching exercises, orthotics, or surgical intervention.

The president confirmed he never underwent surgery for this ailment.

Questions surrounding President Trump’s wellbeing have persisted since he assumed office for a second term. His administration disclosed this summer that the president had been diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.

This condition occurs when veins in the arms or legs become damaged, potentially leading to swelling, throbbing, and discomfort.
