Window cleaning experts have revealed their trump hack for keeping condensation, damp and mould at bay this winter – it’s cheap, easy and takes just seconds to do
An expert has revealed the best way to target pesky winter condensation at home during winter – and it’s genius.
As we head into the colder winter months, condensation, dampness, and mould are set to become a bigger issue. Whether you live in a house, flat or bungalow, in the cooler weather windows often end up getting steamy and wet. Luckily, window cleaning experts have revealed the perfect solution to ‘clear’ your windows and ‘prevent’ a buildup.
They explain that condensation, damp and mould tend to be particularly problematic in the late autumn and early winter months. This is because the warm air inside the house comes into contact with the cold glass of the windows, leading to condensation, which causes moisture and water droplets to form. This wetness can then make issues like damp and mould more likely to occur.
The experts at Cardiff Window Cleaner have shared their solution to targeting condensation before it becomes an issue. They explained that if you wake up and notice that there’s condensation on your bedroom windows, “a great way to clear away the condensation and prevent it from coming back for good” is by making a homemade solution to clear it.
They add that all you need to do is mix together two cups of water and cups of white vinegar, and add a tiny amount of washing liquid. Then, pour this mixture into a spray bottle and spritz your windows with the solution. The white vinegar produces a protective barrier, while the soap breaks down the surface tension within the droplets of water on your windows. The vinegar also works to effectively remove mould and can also help to prevent regrowth of mould.
The window cleaning experts explain that once you’ve spritzed your windows in the DIY solution, you can then just leave it to dry. There’s no need to wipe the windows, the solution should do the job perfectly. They added that, while you can opt to use ‘a sponge or a piece of cloth’ this will ‘take longer to dry’, so it’s best to just leave the window to dry naturally.
