A father-of-one has been identified as the victim of a horrific stabbing in a small town that has led to the arrest of two teenagers. Kamran Aman, aged 38, died following a reported stabbing incident in Barry, south Wales, shortly before midnight on Monday.

Police have confirmed that two teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of murder, whilst cordons remain in place across the Vale of Glamorgan town as the investigation progresses.

Forensics officers in white suits were spotted behind the cordon on Barry Road in the town, gathering evidence throughout Tuesday. On Tuesday, police announced that they had arrested two boys, aged 16 and 17, on suspicion of murder in connection with the alleged stabbing.

A South Wales Police statement released late on Tuesday confirmed: “The man who died in Barry on Monday night has been named as 38-year-old Kamran Aman.”

Detailing the tragic event of Monday night, the statement continued: “Police were called to a report of stabbing in Barry Road just before midnight last night.

“Father-of-one Kamran died and a murder investigation was launched. His family continue to be supported by specially-trained officers.

“An incident room has been set up at Cardiff Central Police Station and detectives are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.”

Detective superintendent Mark O’Shea, of the force’s Major Crime Team, said: “Extensive inquiries are continuing as we establish the tragic events which took place on Monday night.

“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Kamran Aman.

“Police cordons and road closures are still in place and I would like to thank the community for their continued support and understanding while we progress the investigation.

“We are appealing for anyone who was in the area and witnessed what happened to please come forward with information no matter how insignificant they may feel it is.”

The two teenage boys, aged 16 and 17, arrested on suspicion of murder are not from Barry, but 10 miles down the road in Llantwit Major. They both remain in police custody.
