Bargain hunters spend most of their time searching for the best holiday or supermarket deals – while neglecting other areas
Dedicated deal hunters in the UK are spending an average of two hours and 18 minutes each week scouring for the best bargains, with supermarkets, holiday bookings, and clothes shopping being the top areas where they seek out savings.
A survey revealed that while Brits are willing to invest over 90 minutes rummaging through charity shops for treasures, surprisingly, a quarter of them don’t apply the same diligence to hunting for car insurance deals.
The research found that 31% of people are driven by the desire to reduce their spending but while cutting back on spending is a primary motivation a quarter also enjoy ‘the thrill of the hunt’.
The study, initiated by Compare the Market, coincides with the launch of their innovative service, AutoSergei, which promises to deliver personalised car insurance offers to help consumers save both time and money as their policy renewal approaches.
Celebrating the launch of AutoSergei, the brand has been making waves with surprise appearances at various locations, including Birmingham’s Bullring and Leake Street Arches near Waterloo.

The study revealed that while most people are keen to save money, 34% consider saving time as equally important.

According to the research over half of Brits say price comparison websites are the top spot to snag a good deal, followed by chatting with family members or scouring social media.
“Our research shows two-thirds of people are open to having a variety of personalised insurance deals delivered straight to them,” Guy added. “While price is crucial, it’s also important to ensure you’re choosing the right product for you.
