Eastbourne in East Sussex has been named as the third most Instagrammable spot in the UK in the latest survey which ranks the most picturesque parts of the country
A popular UK seaside town is one the most romantic destinations in country for Valentine’s Day and is loved by visitors.
Eastbourne, located in East Sussex, clinched the third spot in the UK’s most Instagrammable locations in a 2024 survey that ranked regions based on their scenic beauty. The study was conducted by travel gurus at Deal Points, with Sussex emerging as the top hotspot, boasting nine out of 85 mentions.
Eastbourne is a fitting choice for romance, given its numerous attractions. Just over an hour’s drive from London and boasting a charming coastline that comes alive in the summer, it’s the perfect pick for a day at the beach.
For couples with children, there’s no shortage of family-friendly activities. Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway and Treasure Island offer a range of entertainment options, including rides, adventure golf, and indoor soft play areas, reports the Express.
Additionally, there are plenty of other attractions to discover in the vicinity of Eastbourne. The Seven Sisters Country Park, home to seven stunning chalk cliffs jutting into the sea, is just a short distance away.
The town also hosts the annual Eastbourne International tennis tournament each June in the week leading up to Wimbledon, drawing top-ranked tennis players from around the globe. The Beachy Head Marathon, Half and 10K, are well-known fixtures in the Sussex sporting calendar, taking place every October.
Participants kick off just west of Eastbourne, weaving their way inland before turning back to confront the scenic Seven Sisters. Tourists who’ve taken in Eastbourne’s charms have been waxing lyrical on TripAdvisor about this gorgeous town’s pull.
One enchanted visitor shared: “Eastbourne is probably the little sister to Brighton, which is only about 30-minute drive away to the west. This town has a splendid promenade where you can take a stroll anytime.
“The abundance of shops is mainly in the centre, not far from the railway station. The majority of the hotels and restaurants are to be found nearer the seafront. However, you will have to travel to Brighton if you are after a hectic nightlife scene, and also the choice of different international gastronomic dishes.
“It is worth taking a walk westwards towards Beachy Head, distance 4 to 5 miles. This is a natural beauty spot about 1 1/4 hours walk away. Here you have marvellous views of the Channel. Would recommend Eastbourne either for the long weekend or a midweek break due to its limitations.”
Another happy traveller recommended: “A great base for exploring Beachy Head (10 mins), Birling Gap (20 mins) and beyond. Take the bus from the High Street to see these sights and others on the route to Brighton.
“The ‘all day’ bus tickets can be bought at the information centre for £3.20 per person or £5 on the bus. The bus runs every hour so we first went to Beachy Head for an hour, then hopped back on the bus and went further on to Birling Gap before returning to Eastbourne. Such great value.”
