A viral life hack advisor has shared an easy hack to remove sticky residue left behind by labels – and all that you need to do it is one common household item and a bit of heat
A fed up woman has come up with the ultimate trick for getting pesky, sticky labels of new products.
It is such a joy when you go shopping, and pick yourself out a new item for your home. But more often than not, if you are buying glassware, crockery, vases and other home accessories, or a pair of shoes, and more, you are likely to find a big price tag label has been stuck on your new items.
Often picking at the label can make it worse; they can often be pretty hard to remove without leaving any sticky residue or damage. So, to make your life easier, one woman, named Liz Richards, has come up with an unusual method to remove sticky labels.
“I wish I knew this sooner,” she said on her 1.3million followers Instagram account @dailyoriginalvids, where she shares ultimate life hacks.
It comes after she bought a new, lovely bright blue teacup with white and dark blue flowers on it. But sadly the beautiful cup was ruined by a big sticky label with a description, barcode and $5.99 (£4.76) written on it.
Luckily, she has found a method that really works. Liz starts by putting- a thick layer of Sellotape over the top of the label. Be careful not to press it down too hard as it needs to come off easily.
Next, Liz grabs a lighter and fans it in front of the tape so it lightly burns it. Then she pulls the tape off at one side, and the sticky label will come off in one pull – and no residue is left behind.
Commented on her viral clip, one individual said: “Thank you. That’s great, I need. They always put price tags and stuff gets ruined.” Another hailed the trick as “genius”. Another added: “Finally! The hack I’ve always needed.”
Others suggested a safer option of using a hairy dryer. One said: “Try a hair dryer, I wouldn’t recommend using fire.” One other agreed: “Or just use a blow dryer for 20 seconds or so. Similar result.” “A blow dryer is safer,” agreed one other.
One other shared: “I used to own a resale business and using a hairdryer worked the best for me.”
“Warm water in the sink does the same,” suggested another. One other suggested: “I usually just cover stickers with olive oil and throw it in the dishwasher and it peels right off.”
