A woman, in her 40s, was bitten on the leg in South Shields by a “bull dog type” breed and Northumbria Police is now appealing to the public to try and track down the owner
A manhunt has been launched for a dog owner after a “bull dog type” breed attacked a woman.
A police investigation is underway following the incident in South Shields where the victim was bitten on the leg. The woman had been walking at the Leas, near to Trow Quarry car park, between 5pm and 5.30pm on Sunday, December 1, 2024, when she was attacked.
Officers are appealing for information with the dog described as a tan and white bull dog type breed. The animal was wearing a harness but had no lead when it went up and bit the woman in her 40s.
After the attack the man who was with the dog is said to have left despite the victim being clearly injured. The woman is understood to have had to go twice to hospital for treatment since the incident.
And now Northumbria Police are now urgently trying to find the dog owner, who is described as a man in his 50s. The statement read: “Can you help?
