Uswitch shares why iPhone 16e is worth upgrading to as Sky launches eye-catching price

By staff26 February 2025No Comments3 Mins Read

Consumer experts from Uswitch have shared an iPhone 16e update as Sky Mobile launch one of the cheapest prices we’ve seen so far

Earlier this month Apple lifted the lid on it’s new iPhone 16e. It’s now available to order in the UK with the snazzy, yet much more affordable, handset expected to arrive on doorsteps by the end of this month, and one tech expert has shared why it’s worthy of an upgrade.

Consumer tech expert from Uswitch, Ernest Doku, has laid out why the iPhone 16e should be on new mobile shoppers’ lists. As retailers including Three, EE, and Sky launch pre-order deals on the swanky new device, there’s a huge benefit to the model… on top of the more affordable price.

Ernest said: “Apple’s iPhone 16e announcement is great news for anyone looking to benefit from the best of iPhone 16’s features – including Apple Intelligence – at a fraction of the price. It comes as Sky Mobile leads the way with its eye-catching prices from £20 per month for the device, one the of the cheapest we’ve seen so far.

“Offering consumers a way to experience Apple AI at a lower price point is a smart move from Apple, and may just help convince customers to upgrade”, said Ernest. Prices for the device are noticeably a lot cheaper than the standard iPhone 16 range, especially those looking at Sky Mobile – buy here.

The retailer beats EE, Three, and O2 by offering the iPhone 16e for as little as £27 per month – based on a 24month plan this breaks down to £20 for the handset and £7 per month for 3GB of data (as it’s reduced from the usual £10 monthly rate). Although, users will be tied into a 36-month plan as per the tiny Sky small print, but can switch their device after two years.

To compare, Three Mobile offers the iPhone 16e with 5GB for £25 per month (on a 36-month plan) for £5 per month, but this comes with an upfront fee of £25 on top. Where as Sky has cut it’s upfront fees to £0.

Ernest continued by saying how the iPhone 16e may prove more in-demand than the standard iPhone 16 range because of its high-end features for the price. He said: “Demand for the iPhone 16 series was lower than anticipated, potentially due to the price.

“The new affordable AI smartphone has been given a big revamp compared to iPhone SE’s of the past, including improved battery life, Face ID and a switch to USB-C.”
