Vanessa Feltz’s former fiancé Ben Ofoedu has hit back at the TV star after she made a series of savage comments about him to promote the release of her latest book in October last year
The former fiancé of Vanessa Feltz has hit back at her savage comments and claimed she handled their split with “no class” thanks to the release of her tell-all memoir.
Singer Ben Ofoedu and Vanessa’s 16-year romance collapsed in 2023 when it was claimed the Phats & Small hitmaker, 52, had cheated on the 62-year-old TV star. In October last year, over a year on from their split, Vanessa took some swipes at her ex to promote the release of her latest book.
In Vanessa Bares All, the former BBC Radio 2 presenter talks about broken relationships, broadcasting and her continuing search for Mr Right. Asked ahead of the autobiography hitting shops, Vanessa claimed she didn’t fear a reaction from ex Ben over her stories, quipping: “I don’t think he can read.”
Ben has now replied to his former fiancée’s literacy taunts and revealed: “We haven’t made peace, and I don’t speak to her.” The singer, who is now dating 29-year-old Vanessa Lana Brown, continued: “She wrote some terrible things about me in her book, and I felt there was no need for it.”
Speaking at the Boyzone: No Matter What premiere on Monday night, Ben added to the MailOnline: “I just think Vanessa Feltz has done it in incredibly bad taste, and with no class at all.
“I would rather not have anything to do with her. We were together for 17 years and the way she spoke about me in her book just shows me I’m incredibly glad not to be in her life any more.”
Promoting her book in October, Vanessa confessed that she was still going out every night, more than 20 months after separating from Ben. “I’ve been out every single night since and this is now 20 months. What’s that? 600 nights? And I’m still doing it,” the radio presenter declared.
“I am exhausted. Of the whole 600 nights, or however many it is, I’ve possibly stayed in two or maybe three, maximum. I just don’t like the idea of staying here on my own for hours and hours looking at the wall. I put tremendous effort into leading a full and vivid life [being] single, but it really doesn’t come naturally to me.”
In her memoir, Vanessa sarcastically refers to her ex-husband, orthopaedic surgeon Michael Kurer, with whom she has two daughters, as the ‘Good Doctor’ and to her other significant ex, singer Ben Ofoedu, as ‘One Hit Wonder’, OHW for short.
Ben and Vanessa were together – and engaged – for 16 years until February 2023. Vanessa has had some disastrous dates since she split from Ofoedu, appeared on Celebs Go Dating, and is praying that she finds true love again.
“I just want somebody nice. I’m not asking for miracles, but they’ve got to be a bit attractive,” she confessed in October. “There has to be chemistry and fun. I’m not in despair or abject panic, but it would be very nice.”
