With a cast line-up as big as this, THE UNINVITED is a film you don’t want to miss. With big names like Walton Goggins, Pedro Pascal and Elizabeth Reaser, this film is one of the most anticipated premieres of the year.

THE UNINVITED is a story about the passing of time, love, regret and accepting the harsh reality that is ageing. It’s a 90-minute comedic drama centring on Rose, a former actress now living as a stay-at-home mom, who, as she prepares the house to host a party for her husband’s job, an elderly woman named Helen arrives, claiming she has returned home.

This unexpected encounter and the presence of other complicated characters from her past and present create a night of absolute chaos that forces Rose to confront her insecurities and reflect on her journey as a woman. The film also humorously critiques Hollywood’s ideologies around beauty while honouring the complexities of womanhood, touching on themes of motherhood and self-discovery in Los Angeles.

While the trailer was initially released in March, The Mirror has been given exclusive access to a never-before-seen film clip ahead of the movie’s premiere in the UK tomorrow, 9 May 2025. The exclusive snippet shows Rose (Elizabeth Reaser) and Sammy (Walton Goggins) in a heated discussion because Helen (Lois Smith) has appeared to trap herself in their guest toilet.

The emotionally motivated conversation shows the couple less than impressed with one another as they discuss retrieving Helen from the toilet. Rose seems frustrated with Sammy’s prioritising, targeting his masculinity when she says, “My father is turning in his grave,” in relation to Sammy’s unawareness that they even had a toolbox in their home.

Rose can be seen frantically going through the kitchen to find a tool to unlock the bathroom door while discussing with Sammy, who seems more concerned about whether his hummingbird is alright. The pair make snide remarks about one another, ultimately causing Sammy to question his masculinity and Rose to contemplate her role and duties in the relationship, ultimately reflecting the stability of their marriage.

This exclusive preview allows viewers to see deeper layers of Sammy and Rose’s relationship and explore the subtle frustrations they inflict upon each other. Helen symbolises clarity for the couple, as her presence brings their internal issues to the forefront, enabling them to project their deeply rooted problems onto one another.

Director Nadia Conners expresses her passion for sharing this narrative, explaining: “I am eager to share this film with an audience as it has landed at a unique moment in our culture where the costs and rewards of motherhood are being explored more widely.”

She continues: “I am encouraged by the festival audience’s reaction to the story as it delves into the multiple roles women must juggle, all while losing contact with their own selfhood.”

THE UNIVITED will hit the big screen on May 9 in the UK and is certainly not to be missed. With reviews already praising the hilarious but candidly raw film, you’ll go from shedding a tear to hysterical laughter.
