Coleen Rooney’s husband Wayne is said to be bursting with pride following her stint on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! and is planning some special surprises for her back home.
Coleen Rooney, wife of football legend Wayne Rooney, certainly made her mark on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, securing the runner-up position. And her performance in the jungle, from tackling creepy crawlies to confronting snakes, has reportedly left her husband more appreciative than ever, reports OK!.
A source said, “Wayne has loved watching Coleen and it has made him remember just how amazing she is and how much he appreciates her. It has made their marriage even stronger, as it’s been a wake-up call for Wayne. He realised how much she actually does for the whole family, and how much he misses her when she’s not around,”
The couple, who are parents to four sons; Kai, 15, Klay, 11, Kit, eight and Cass, six, have been married for 16 years. Their two youngest children spent two weeks in Australia supporting their mum, who came second to winner Danny Jones, reports OK!.
Now that Coleen, 38, has returned home from Down Under, it seems the former Manchester United striker, 39, plans to increase the romance with a proposal for more quality time together over the festive period and into the new year.
“Wayne knows he has someone very special and watching Coleen taking on trials has shown him how strong she really is. He’s going to make more of an effort for some quality time and wants to take her on date nights. Wayne wants to have more time with her and the kids and be more hands-on when he’s home. They go on to claim that the football manager is nothing but supportive of what his other half may do next. “He is keen on supporting Coleen in what could be a really huge career in TV. He wants to give her the chance to shine and support her, like she has supported him for so long.
It’s going to be a really strong year for them as a couple”. After making it in the jungle for the show’s full three-week run, Coleen was greeted by her parents; Colette and Tony McLoughlin and sons Kit and Cass upon her exit. However, leaving the camp, Coleen said she was straight on the phone to Wayne – who admitted her jungle stint was the longest he had ever gone without speaking to his wife.
“As soon as I came out, I phoned home. Wayne just said how proud he was,” said an overwhelmed Coleen, who received a sweet letter from Wayne and their children while in camp. She continued, “In the letter I got, he said he’s never missed me as much – and I can understand that, because we’ve not spoke.”
While they’ve spent time apart before, it’s always been filled with numerous FaceTime calls and daily text messages. Coleen admitted, “To not have that communication, it’s been tough”. The couple, who met as teenagers, have been together for over two decades and got hitched in 2008 in a stunning ceremony in Portofino, Italy. During her stint in the jungle, Coleen opened up about their early days, revealing that Wayne pursued her relentlessly at school. “It was [love at first sight] for him, not for me. He fought to get me,” she shared with her campmates. I waited until I’d done my GCSEs and then I went on a date. I was pretty good at school.”
Now, they live in a lavish Cheshire mansion, estimated to be worth £20million, with their children. Despite facing their share of challenges, including allegations of Wayne’s infidelity during his football career, the couple has weathered the storm. The source revealed that Coleen’s recent TV appearance has made Wayne appreciate their relationship even more. “This has made him see how, at times, he’s been foolish.
“He just absolutely cherishes Coleen more than ever now. He’s seen the country fall in love with her too, , and is so happy. They’re in a better place than ever.”
Football icon Wayne, who has successfully transitioned to football management with stints at Birmingham City, Derby County, and stateside with D.C United, is currently at the helm of Plymouth Argyle Football Club. However, an insider close to Wayne revealed he’s contemplating how his career choices impact family life. “He’s having a real think about whether he should stay at Plymouth and is going to analyse what is best for the family.
He wants to make the effort and having time to be hands on with the kids and Coleen,” shared the source. With Christmas on the horizon, it seems Wayne and his wife Coleen are gearing up for some much-needed togetherness. It looks set to be a love-laden holiday season for the couple.
