Twins Brittany and Briana have always wanted to have kids at the same time, and after meeting another set of twins, are now raising their kids as if they have four parents each
You’ll have heard of Irish twins, identical twins and fraternal twins, but these two couples have had quaternary twins.
Identical twins Brittany and Briana married identical twins Josh and Jeremy and the couples then went on to have two sons at the same time as well.
Jeremy and Briana welcomed their son Jax in January 2021, and just a few months later, Josh and Brittany welcomed their son Jett in April. This makes Jax and Jett quaternary twins, and makes them not just cousins, but full genetic siblings as well – and something Brittany and Briana have always dreamt of.
Quaternary twins are when two children are born less than nine months apart, to identical twin mothers and identical twin fathers. Unsurprisingly, the rarest type of twins in the world.
Briana told NBC News: “We were hoping that we would have overlapping pregnancies so that this would happen. We thought it would be really cool. There [are] only 300 quaternary marriages known in the history of the world.” The couples are now raising their babies as if they have four parents and were part of the TLC show Extreme Sisters.
“Technically Josh and I are the parents of baby Jett – I gave birth to Jett. But really, Jett has four biological parents because Briana and I share DNA and Josh and Jeremy share DNA. We are raising baby Jett as though he has four parents.” Now they are deciding whether they want to further expand their family and have more children but said if they do, would hope to be lucky enough to have overlapping pregnancies again.
Not only did they have children at the same time, the two couples also got engaged together, and tied the knot together, simultaneously saying “I do”. Brittany told USA Today: “I think for a lot of people in the dating world, specifically singletons, they are looking for their other half. We each already had another half – a literal other half and we each previously had experiences where we dated people who were annoyed that it was not them who was considered the other half. But the four of us all understand the twin thing.”
