West Ham release ominous statement for Graham Potter – ‘Nobody is satisfied’

The West Ham hierarchy have released a statement addressing some of the issues around the club including their poor start to the Premier League season under Graham Potter

West Ham have conceded they are far from satisfied with their poor start to the Premier League season under Graham Potter in a statement addressing a number of issues amid growing supporter unrest.

The hapless Hammers have conceded 11 goals in their opening four games, three of which they’ve lost, and sit inside the Premier League relegation zone. Their latest outing, a 3-0 home defeat against rivals Tottenham, has seen questions asked of Potter, who has an underwhelming record since taking charge at the London Stadium back in January.

There is also dissatisfaction among the fanbase with the board, who are set to be the subject of a protest from home fans when Crystal Palace visit the London Stadium this weekend. And West Ham’s top brass have released a wide-ranging statement addressing the team’s on-field struggles and fan unrest following a meeting with the Fan Advisory Board (FAB).

Part of statement read: “First, we accept that results and performances on the pitch over the past two seasons have not met the standards we set for ourselves.

“Nobody at the Club is satisfied with that and the Board of Directors have spent a great deal of time looking at the decisions that have been made across the football operation, in order to inform an improved strategy going forward.

“Our focus now is firmly on the future and building a team that can once again compete consistently in domestic competitions and in Europe. We have a strong platform from which to continue that quest, in that we are entering our 14th consecutive season in the Premier League – our longest unbroken top-flight run in the modern era.”

While the statement went on to address other areas of concern, the team’s poor performances have led to growing scrutiny on Potter, who has overseen just six wins in all competitions since succeeding Julen Lopetegui at the helm. Question marks were raised over the former Brighton and Chelsea chief’s position in the wake of West Ham’s chastening 5-1 home loss against the Blues last month.

It was reported soon after that the Hammers hierarchy remain behind Potter, albeit there was an acceptance that results needed to improve. Since then West Ham have been knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Wolves and beaten Nottingham Forest 3-0 away from home, both of which occurred prior to last weekend’s disappointing result against Tottenham.
