When is Taylor Swift’s new album out and is she going on tour?

By staff1 October 2025No Comments4 Mins Read

The Life Of A Showgirl is Taylor Swift’s hotly anticipated 12th studio album and is due for release very soon, with Swifties filled to the brim with excitement for it to drop

Over the past couple of months, Taylor Swift has been dropping Easter Eggs and teasers for her upcoming 12th studio album, The Life Of A Showgirl. Fans all over the globe are eagerly awaiting the next instalment to the pop star’s discography and there’s not long left to go before it finally drops.

Here is everything we know about The Life Of A Showgirl, from when it will be released to if Taylor is headed back on tour…

What is The Life Of A Showgirl?

In August, Taylor announced via her fiancé Travis Kelce’s podcast New Heights that she was getting ready to release her 12th album, The Life Of A Showgirl. Not a lot else was known about the album at the time, but she has since revealed more details, including cover art and a tracklist.

Like her previous albums, there are several variations of The Life Of A Showgirl that are available to buy, with differences mostly being in artwork. But the core art that will feature on standard albums sees Taylor in a silver beaded bra top and diamond bracelets submerged in water. The colour scheme is a mint green and rust orange.

On the podcast, Taylor said: “This represents the end of my night. So when I’m on tour, I have the same day every single day…And my day ends with me in a bathtub, not usually in a bedazzled dress.” She went on to explain that the songs are about her life “offstage”.

When is The Life Of A Showgirlbeing released?

The album drops on October 3, which just so happens to be two days before the singer’s beau Travis’ birthday. Pre-orders are already available via Taylor’s website.

All the variations are set to be released at the same time, but with the singer’s prior albums folklore, Midnights and The Tortured Poets Department, she continued to record new versions of select songs and release them at later dates. She then released extended versions of the album for sale, so some fans believe the record set to release on Friday is not the only The Life Of A Showgirl we will see.

What’s on the album?

Taylor has revealed the names of 12 songs via her Instagram:

1. The Fate of Ophelia

2. Elizabeth Taylor

3. Opalite

4. Father Figure

5. Eldest Daughter

6. Ruin the Friendship

7. Actually Romantic

8. Wi$h Li$t

9. Wood

10. CANCELLED!

11. Honey

12. The Life of a Showgirl featuring Sabrina Carpenter

Taylor has said these are the only songs that will be on the album. She also revealed the opening track, The Fate of Ophelia, will be here lead single and a music video will be released on October 3. With only 12 tracks, this is her shortest album yet. 1989 is the second shortest with 13 and The Tortured Poets Department is the longest at 31. Taylor has also said this album will lean more towards her pop background rather than country.

Fans have started to guess what these songs might be like and noted themes linking this album to others. Taylor previously referenced Shakespeare in Love Story, where she reimagined a happy ending for Romeo and Juliet. Ophelia similarly faces a sad fate in Hamlet, as love drives her mad. Taylor has also mentioned a Hollywood starlet like Elizabeth Taylor before in Clara Bow, a song from The Tortured Poets Department where the singer likened herself to It Girls of the past, Clara and Stevie Nicks.

Is Taylor going on tour?

As far as we know…. no. The singer does not seem to have a tour planned in the near future. Recording the album happened directly following her international Eras Tour, which took over a year to complete, so Taylor appears to be taking a break following the release of The Life Of A Showgirl.

This break may see some developments happen within the singer’s personal life, as she recently got engaged to Travis Kelce. The couple announced their engagement in August via Instagram, and fans are sure Taylor will be walking down the aisle before too long.
