Coleen Rooney and her four sons have opted to remain in their £20m Cheshire mansion rather than relocate to Devon after husband Wayne was named Plymouth Argyle manager earlier this year
Coleen Rooney has shared her reasons for not moving down to Devon with her hubby Wayne Rooney, who took a job with Plymouth Argyle earlier this year.
A household name following his exploits with Manchester United and England, Rooney stepped into the managerial spotlight at Argyle in May, inheriting the position from Ian Foster, who had a rather unremarkable four-month tenure. Zooming ahead to October 2024, Rooney’s Argyle are comfortably positioned mid-table in the Championship, showing mixed results with three victories, two defeats, and a quartet of draws.
This role marks Rooney’s fourth managerial undertaking since 2020, having previously helmed operations at Derby, DC United, and Birmingham City. And while Wayne has adapted to life in Devon during the last five months, Coleen has made the decision alongside their sons Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass, to stay put in their lavish £20million pad in Cheshire.
In discussing the family’s decision not to up sticks to Devon, Coleen said: “We thought long and hard about it (moving to Devon) but with the kids it didn’t work. Kai’s now in year 10 and just starting GCSE prep and everything’s going well with football, and the other boys are all settled at school, so it didn’t seem fair on the children to pick them up and take them away, and start in a whole new place.”
Coleen, while discussing the art of juggling life’s commitments, shared her experience: “It’s manageable. It’s life. Other couples and families have similar situations and have to get on with it. We see him a couple of times a week, which is good. He went to America, so this is a bonus because even though it seems like far away, it’s easier to get to than Washington, DC.
“There’s lots of FaceTime and he always phones when we’re going out of the door in the morning. I’m like ‘Just wait till we’re in the car. I’ve got no time.'” Amid their separate living arrangements, Coleen plus the kids enjoy a luxurious abode boasting six bedrooms, a cinema room, an indoor swimming pool, an underground spa, a sophisticated wine cellar, a private Astroturf pitch and stables – all set across forty dreamy acres.
Currently sparking buzz on the entertainment front, Coleen is tipped to brave the wilds in the upcoming winter series of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! Insiders chatting with The Sun claimed: “I’m A Celeb bosses have pulled off a huge coup getting Coleen for the jungle this year and the team are thrilled to have her on board.”
While the show’s cast remains under wraps, speculation is that Rooney may find herself alongside celebs such as Ally McCoist, Jeremy Clarkson, Tommy Fury, and Tulisa Contostavlos down under in Oz.
