Fans trolled Wicked stars Ariana Grande and Ethan Slater as they went public with their relationship, with some online users claiming the pair had cheated on their former partners
Ariana Grande has found herself the target of vile trolls after she began dating her Wicked co-star Ethan Slater.
It comes after online users accused the duo of cheating on the respective partners prior to their romance becoming official. Cyberbullies believed singer Ariana, 31, was cheating on her then-husband, estate agent Dalton Gomez. They also accused Ethan, 32, of doing the dirty on high school sweetheart, Lily Jay.
The pair continuously deny any wrongdoing, but the rumours don’t stop. However, it appears as though Ariana is now letting her music do the talking.
She has used the deluxe edition of her number one album, Eternal Sunshine: Brighter Days Ahead, to take aim at her ex. In a number of tunes, she takes a savage swipe at her former hubby, criticising his behaviour before she moved on to pastures new.
The album features six new self-penned tracks. She uses them to insinuate her ex broke her heart. She made out he was an actor and referred to a mystery woman.
Ariana goes on to reveal she allowed rumours to swirl against her as she was trying to protect others in the situation. Ariana sings on Intro (End Of The World) Extended Ariana: I broke your heart because you broke mine. So me, I am the bad guy. Cause I’d already you. And grieved you started to realise.
“I do need ya, I did. I wish I could un-need ya, so I did.” And she doesn’t stop there. On her new single titled Twilight Zone she admits the man she is singing about fooled her, saying he left her feeling broken. However, she confessed to still wanting to protect him.
The album closes with Hampstead – Ariana’s favourite track. In it, she seems to slam claims that she was in the wrong and hints at using the track in an open letter-style tune to her critics.
“Threw away my reputation, but saved us more heartache, Yes, I know it seems f***ed up and you’re right,” she sings. “But quite frankly, you’re still wrong about everything. So far off, your seat’s nowhere near the table.”
Ariana and Dalton finalised their divorce in March last year. The duo initially got engaged in December 2020 and tied the knot at an intimate ceremony at their Montecito home in May 2021. The former couple had a Kim Kardashian-style prenup in place however, making their marriage unwinding much easier.
Ariana and Dalton’s settlement terms were agreed months earlier, but the duo had to wait the required six months for a judge’s order, per MailOnline at the time. The outlet stated that Ariana would go on to pay her former spouse a one-time sum of $1,250,000, with no future alimony.
It also stated that the singer and actress would give her ex half the proceeds of the sale of their home in Los Angeles, as well as paying up to $25,000 toward his attorneys’ fees.
Their divorce petition stated ‘irreconcilable differences’ as the reason for their separation.
