A “bubbly and outgoing” woman, aged just 26, died almost a month after falling down the stairs of a bar during a night out with her friends in Liverpool.

Georgia Harry was out with a group of friends on Monday, March 17 when tragedy struck. Georgia tripped and tumbled down the stairs at Lost on Seel Street in Liverpool city centre in the early hours of the morning. Shortly after 2am emergency were called and Georgia was rushed to hospital where she was subsequently placed on life support at The Walton Centre.

Speaking to the ECHO, her mum, Nicola Poolton, said that her brave daughter was taken off life support on Tuesday, April 8, yet valiantly “fought until the end” passing away five days later on Sunday April 13, surrounded by her nearest and dearest.

A funeral service for Georgia took place on May 7, where Georgia’s family and friends overflowed from St. Michael In The Hamlet Church to honour and celebrate her vibrant life and say their final goodbyes.

Nicola, 44, fondly remembered her daughter telling the ECHO: “She was very bubbly, outgoing and friendly with everyone. She was a hard-working girl who loved to have fun with her friends and going on holidays. She was so sociable.”

Georgia lived with her mum and their two dachshunds, Mabel and Maggie, in Aigburth, and was employed at the Liverpool Passport Office in the city centre. Her mum reminisced: “She loved reading and taking her dogs out for walks. She loved doing the pub quizzes too”, reports the Liverpool Echo.

Reflecting on the harrowing time at the hospital, Nicola recounted: “She was in ICU at The Walton Centre. We were told on the night that they didn’t she would make it through the night. But when we turned off life support she survived for five days. She was a fighter and she fought till the end. She was strong.”

Nicola revealed that her daughter passed away due to a severe head injury. Following the tragic event, Merseyside Police confirmed that a woman named Georgia had suffered a fall down the stairs at Lost around 2.15am.

In the aftermath, Mereseyside Police conducted extensive CCTV and witness enquiries, and detectives issued CCTV images of two men who may have witnessed the fall and could assist in their investigation.

At the time Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said: “We are keen for the two men in the CCTV images to come forward and help us with enquiries so we can understand what happened and how she fell down the stairs.

“We are keen to stress that the men in the image are not in any trouble and there is no suggestion that they have done anything wrong. We would like them to come forward to assist with our enquiries. I urge the men to please identify yourself and contact us as a matter of urgency.”

Nicola shared with the ECHO that the police inquiries are now complete and an inquest is scheduled for July this year.
